BoBo Chic

I think that if this trend is so hot at the moment is just because it allows you to mix up "real" poor stuff (worth a few bucks) with the "fake" ones (which cost no less than the usual fashion items).

This way, more people has the money to get into it, and that's why you can see a lot of people dressing like this.

Unless you really did not spend a lot on your clothes, i don't see the point in PAYING lots to look like it.

I think one of the best ways to pull it off is with actually a made up face and hair. Otherwise, it'll be a bit off.

Kate Bosworth bobo chic? She's more boho glam than anything!
I put her there because she is in Marc Jacobs at his show and there was a discussion before my post on how Marc Jacob's is very influenced by "bobo" style.

I actually really like the whole style, but the idea of spending obscene amounts of money on it is silly.

I LOVE IT!!! To me this is NOT dressing down, if you think about it, there is alot of layering, accessorizing and piecing to make an outfit like this come together as well as alot of color play. What is really trashy looking to me is spending a few hundred dollars wearing a sweatsuit made of towels in obnoxious colors with your belly hanging out and flipflops. To me, THOSE are the people who are a disgrace. That is the epitome of LAZY!

Isn't MK olsen recovering from and eating disorder? Maybe she is dressed in ugly, oversized clothes because it reflects how she feels about herself, rather than her rejecting her billionaire status.

I really like it, is young and there is thought put into it, you always got to think of new ways to wear things.

And is worn with an attitude, I like it.

Like I don't give a F***!

IMO the "bobo" trend is not just about looking poor. There's more to it than that. You have to have some brains and innate style to be able to "throw" one of these outfits together and still look good. But I agree, if you spend a tonne of money trying to get this look then you're a twat and you don't "get it".

That's what i always said, and because she wanted to hide the fact that she was getting so thin so she just layered the clothes on. Heh, at the same time she managed to get everyone following her style.

I don't see the point of wearing something really exspensive that looks like you pulled it out from dumpster..

I love this, and because I can spend monthly only like 50 euros on clothes and shoes and bags etc. so I go to charity shops and trifht stores or occasionaly H&M.

But it's more like how you put clothes togheter and can you actually manage to pull them off..

i see alot of people dressing like this at the school i go to especially the year below. i can no longer distinguish between people who have actually just thrown an out fit together in 10 mins or someone has purposely tried to create this look.

its just become confusing because i think its quite sad how people spend alot of time and money on creating this look. but then again they may not have they may have actually just thrown it together in 10 mins. i end up just lumping them into one group and dis them becuase you think they have spent time on it.

I haven't seen anyone round by me wearing this trend, i wonder how it will be until the first is spotted!

i used to throw on ((LITERALLY)) the first thing i saw in high school so i would end up with pajama pants, a big shirt, a sweater and a hat or scarf. I NEVER would have thought this would become such a trend... i have mixed feelings about it, but im just shocked its become such a big thing.

^ Interesting point. Makes you wonder who did it on purpose, and who didn't do it on purpose.

I heard the term BoBo stands for Bohemian Bourgeoise, which makes sense, you're dressing like a citizen of lower class when you are actually part of the elite! Way to work some irony into your wardrobe!

Sssanguine, Bobo does stand for that indeed. :flower:

To be honest, I've heard a lot about this trend, but I've never really seen it in real life. Of course there are a lot of people dressed up like Mary Kate Olsen out there, but I am pretty sure they are not Bobo, they've been dressing that way for years and it does not cost a fortune.
