Boho is out, Beatnik is back

I have the same pictures of those outfits in post #58 saved on my computer. (How come I can't copy them from the folder or Word and into a reply?) I definitely think boho is over, I hate peasant skirts and was never really into cowboy boots. i'm kinda obessed with finding a great pair of suede black or brown boots.

So is it all Dior this winter??? I think I kinda like it.

Yeah, it all looked good there, just like every trend does in the shows before the season actually comes...but wait till it gets mass-manufactured in poor fabrics and sold in forever 21 and wet seal and rampage and every girl aged 12-25 is trying to wear it. :yuk:

Yeah I hate that....but I guess that's just how it is and we can't change it. So let's just try to get the style before everyone else does and be ahead of the little kids and the cheap brands.
Cuz we are here and we care about fashion and style. Those kids just go with the flow and they would wear ANYTHING if you told them "this is so hot right now"

More along the lines of my fall wardrobe that I already had planned... :innocent:  I'm so excited to be done with tan and brown and neon pink and pastel...

i'm just waiting the summer to be over so i can actually wear clothes again. and i think this style would be for me, never really adapted the boho style, but this one.. me like :D i'm not even that good with colours, besides my style is more rock than pop, so this will be great

Love beatnik, love mod. I doubt they will be as popular as boho. Oh, please, don't let them be as popular as boho!!

Ah, I think I'm just really grumpy over this because it is so not my style. I have always had a really, really feminine style, with a bit of sexy and sophisticated thrown in (but never trashy or overly pink-y, flower-y girly. just felt I had to clarify that). This whole beatnik deal is like the anti-me. There was a lot of pieces that I liked from fall shows but generally speaking, beatnik-influenced ones aren't in that category. The style just wouldn't work on me anyways, even if I did like it. Of course it looked amazing on the true 60's style icons. But I really am a true girl, there's no mistaking it, and I like to dress like it... But hey, maybe I should be happy because I will definitely look unique if this stuff really does catch on big in the fall. :) But still, I'm not looking forward to see this saturating the streets like boho has.

The thing interesting about trends is when "mainstream" takes on a certain trend, it never looks authentics...... The tacky fake boho girls will never look anything like a real boho (real boho is  ), a real boho will never be seen with cowboy boots or whatever weird accessory......

Once a certain trend is over, it is easy to notice those still hanging on to that style...... those are the "real", stylish at heart...

Following a trend is just "dumb", if you like it for a certain reason, OK, but just to be IN is seriously  .....

Real beatniks and bohos are obviously lovely though. Copies from Topshop are blatantly phony.

Great post. I completely agree.

The new beatnick look won't be huge though. It's a little too daring for most, and hard to work for the average person. If it gets mainstream, it won't be for a couple more years, once the people who are in "beatnick" atm get annoyed by the trend copycats and move in another direction.

I agree, that audrey pic is lovely. if it's at h&m right now, already, that says to me that this trend isn't going to have much longevity. :innocent:

but perhaps it will divert people's attention away from boho long enough for them to realise how overdone it has been.

I haven't even noticed the boho-overload untill I red this topic

so are most of the autumn clothes in shops nowthen ??

i will be happy if beatnik will go mainstream. it's harder to make a mistake with beatnik.

^I agree it does sound nicer than the boho look everyone's doing right now.

I remember when I used to think that dressing like hippies and beatniks were only halloween costumes...

I'm not too thrilled about beatnik, although I loved boho.. it did get old quickly. it still didn't get around to all of the states though! but beatnik.. i'm not too sure about.. and not everyone can pull off beatnik. i'm going to laugh my behind off if all the girls start dressing like this! it will just be too obvious then that girls only wear stuff to be cool, because 'everyone else is doing it'. fashion should be more open-minded, not so TRENDY! just wear what you like. like what you wear.. don't be so worried about if it's 'cool'. although i do love SOME beatnik pieces (esp those from dior) i am not going to flood my closet full of black and white-60's inspired garments. beatnik is cute, but too much will make me sick! and i need some color..

But H&M has done stuff like that for ages. I bought a grey and black striped top there on sale 6 months ago. I also bought 2 pairs of black drainpipes there last year. I think H&M actually knows what they're doing a long time before everyone else - i.e. topshop.
