I have to say, upon viewing the entire collection, that I genuinely dislike all of it. First of all, its all over the place; the colours, the textures, the silhouettes. There are too many ideas and none of them sync together. There is no concise direction here like in his previous collections.
Second of all, thigh-high boots at Burberry Prorsum?
Snake-skin thigh-high boots at Burberry Prorsum? Seriously?
Thirdly, where is the nonchalance that Bailey has established for his Burberry woman? What was refreshing about his aesthetic was that it had this certain sense of relaxed dressing. I see nothing of that here in its tight skirts, hard structured leathers and military coats.
I haven't liked any of Christophers work since his Fall 2009 Womens collection. After that, his design aesthetic seemed tainted by commercial demands, and his work suffered (at least in my eyes) as a result. I miss the seasons where he was inspired by art/design/film. Now, all it seems Christopher is inspired by is other designers work and the prospect of profit.
Besides nothing will beat Fall 2008 (Lowry, autumn leaves, destroyed feathers
).
