Burberry Prorsum S/S 06 Milan

yes...i agree alura...
if it wasn't priced so high it could do very well...
but it's not special enough for the designer category imo...

although...there are a lot of those 'uptown' girls who are super conservative and might go for the retro thing...
but it's just slightly too 'retro' for me...

**liking that gold dress though...
if you were looking for a standout piece ( a la the metallic dresses from last season)...
i think that would be it...
though it really isn't as dramatic...
the jacket's pretty cute too...

wow: i guess christopher bailey has given up on his customer buying clothes for the season. i guess since these clothes will hit stores when snow's still on the ground, he figured he'd design clothes in a palatte that would normally accompany a fall/winter collection

hey...that is an extremely good point mike...
but i still think it will be available in other colours at retail...

**i brought something up at least a year ago about global warming affecting the seasonal temperatures...
and about how retailers and designers might need to rethink delivery schedules to better match the changing global climates...
could be that i am not the only one who has thought of this...
retailers have been suffering fro several seasons now...
with tons of coats in stock during 75 degree weather and sandals while it remains frigid outdoors...

There is an article on today's NYTimes talking about the same issue. The weather has changed the timing of wearing new clothes...

Is it just me, or is anyone else seeing the same 4 outfits over and over again? Cardi, bow, skirt, cardi, bow, skirt - enough! This is definitely not one of his more inspired efforts.

...

gonna go dig up the old thread...*skips off*...

I had high expectations of this collection as I thought their last collection was lovely:woot: But didn't really live up to it, partically due to the uber-usage of gold/copper shades:shock:

I like these looks =) :

I actually love this collection.... The fabrics are excuisite, gorgeous pieces (and I'm a sucker for the ladylike style), love the hats!

And I do think the colors are great as well.

I'm in love. The fabrics, the ribbons, even though the shades aren't fitting for SS, I still love it, and would wear it.

The shapes are lovely, the colours are lovely, it's the combinations and the spareness that actually leave a lot to be desired in this particular case. It doesn't look like a spare, fresh minimalism, it looks, instead, as if something were missing. The caps go a long way to spread a non chalant message, a capriciousness that values nothing at all, really...but Bailey, to me, isn't a designer that sets up dialects that spread over a few collections. If he were going to develop the ideas set up here a little more, we could have something quite interesting...like at Gucci.

I really like it but a bit greige No?? :innocent: (At least for a summer coll)

 that's a good point - it is extremely repetitive, almost identical pieces in many respects :ninja:

That said, it is lovely and I do like it :flower: And I love the bows/ribbons  But it doesn't have the kind of appeal of some of his previous collections

My thoughts too, marketing-wise it's still strange that you need to go through a store full of novachecked items to end up in some corner with 3 racks or Prorsum. My bf was looking for some S/S 2005 products in London and was highly disappointed by the lack of them in the flagship store. No wonder it's not a commercial success.

Let's not forget Prorsum acts as a collection to keep the Burberry brand name UP! It's a marketing trick to keep a Burberry appeal among the fashion crowd. The Burberry brand is very dualistic (on purpose), remember the 90s campaigns with Kate (bad girl) and the more aristocratic girl (good girl), they used that as a trick: neither being only classic, neither being only trendy and sexy. Prorsum all about aspiration and acts as a style guide for the cheaper lines as well. Bailey is an amazing talent, maybe it's time for Prorsum stores?

It's so...yellow. I kind of like it though, it's sort of The Graduate era.

Awww--poor Mr. Bailey..I usually love his collections for Burberry, but this time, looks like he struck out...The colors really really turn me off, which is sad, because I think Christopher Bailey has a great sense of color...Definitely not as good as AW '04's collection, and nowhere near as good as his menwear SS '05 collection..Better luck next time..

agreed..
been checking the collection and i really dont like it in those colours, a big let down..
but the accessories are not too bad , i like his blue, the gold buttons and the bow 'belt' details
