Celine F/W 2021.22 Maincy

^Doing something other than a catwalk, or even just a catwalk that was captivating, would mean teaching the models how to move gracefully, we all know no one cares about that anymore.

I think this is better than his SS21 collection, in terms of styling and leather goods.

For the women’s department, I think they’ve hit the mark on who to target. it’s either the Instagram (of mostly Chinese) Influencers or the affluent TikTokers. Sadly, It’s definitely clear that Hedi is on a tight leash; follow the memo from LVMH or loose creative control.

This is how I see all the women dressed in Monaco though.

I would take clothes that are actually wearable over avant garde weirdness nobody will realistically wear.

Monaco is not really a place known for style tho...
Yes Princess Caroline can dress and most people do efforts when there are ceremonies but style is not what you look for at Monaco. There’s a quality of life and a certain lifestyle that are kind of enjoyable...

Considering that Zara is one of the most popular store there, it’s not surprising to have people dressed like this... But I think that High fashion needs to be more than the elevated version of everyday wear. Nobody asks Hedi to do Comme Des Garçons (it would be awful to wear in Monte-Carlo)!

I think I would wear most of those clothes... but then again the collection is very basic to say the least. Where is the fantasy, where is the design. It just feels like I'm looking at one of those street style insta...

It is really quite tragic that we’re slowly moving towards accepting paying such ridiculous amounts of money for such mediocre clothing. This should not be the norm, and they should strive to do better. The bar is critically low.

I know I come to every Celine collection and say this, but... I, honestly, do love 90% of the clothes shown here. Yes, it is boring and mediocre in creativity, but the tailoring is amazing and at least it is not clownish. What I appreciate about Hedi is that he puts the logo in moderation and not everything screams Celine like Gucci, LV, Dior and Balenciaga do.

I would wear all of this and not be afraid of looking stupid or in bad taste and, to be frank, I think this is the whole point of Hedi's clothing and I appreciate it in the era of ridiculousness and over-the-top approach. It is something more discreet and down to earth and I do like it. I'd rather prefer most people wearing this instead of GGGGG pattern clothing or Walter Van Beirendonck originals or copies (yeah, Abloh for LV, you).

I understand that we all adore fashion, want to see the excitement, the dream, the next big thing and get emotional, but I certainly don't understand the Hedi hate. There are so many designers, even at big houses, who are much worse than him, where he is just safe. And, of course, the quality and tailoring of his tenures is incomparable, maybe except for Hermes. I've had his Saint Laurent parka for about 7 years and it still looks amazing, not a single thread out of place (and I wear it very often).

Yeah, me too. I have some of the jackets and bags from his dior/ SL days and they are still doing super well, same for some of his first seasons Celine bags, even the canvas ones. I think this day and time, sometimes one just want to be lazy and not put up so much effort trying to stand out from a crowd, but quiet, subtle beauty is really just enough?

for this collection, I really do think the girls look great and has that attitude that Lola mentioned, which is great.

I do find it hard to associate the clothes on older women at first, but then when I tried so substitute one of the models for say, someone like Tilda Swinton/ Helena Christiansen/ Christy Turlington, it also makes perfect sense.

LOVED IT. Sure, the Chanel knockoffs were bland. I loved the double pleated trousers, evening jacket, tweed blazer, evening wear, and crinolines. He is so easy to hate, I get it. Between his inability to handle criticism and obsession with these so called “subcultures” it is all a little pretentious. But realistically, the talent and luxury is still there. Take away those gross wide-legged jeans, crop tops that no one asked for, and hiking/working boots and there really is a decent collection, you just have to look in my opinion of course. My favorite pieces: the black finale short jacket with shawl lapels, the herringbone coat, black evening coat with those military stripes, and the black flowing midi length dress near the conclusion. Say what you will, boring daywear, copycat, uninspired, expected, etc., the hate keeps makes him even cooler.

Yes its what we expected. casual, urban in Hedi style. But weirdly its kind of growing on me. Seems like Lisa injection worked for me :D

What happened to the Spring Summer 2022 womenswear show? Was it cancelled or rescheduled? So strange!

Probably happening soon. The invites were sent and someone posted them but deleted it after. It’s in Angels Bay in Nice. Pre-recorded.

The show was recorded a long time ago and they are just playing hard-to-get with the release—in usual Slimane fashion.
