^Are you referring to the Melrose vs the Cabas and what differences they may have?
Well, imho, the cabas strictly refers to the "sack-like" style produced by Chanel from 2006 till 2007.
The first cabas were offered in vinyl, leather and purple satin if I recall correctly.
It came with the CC medallion and closes at the opening with a magnetic clasp.
It was only later at the start of 2007 that the baby cabas was produced and subsequently, the larger baby cabas:

Note that most of the models above are available in different colours, e.g baby cabas is available in black, white, khaki, navy and teal.
The cabas has since been discontinued, but its replacement for 2008 is suppose to be the Melrose, which is similar to the cabas in appearance as it has very little structure as well, but is really a different bag entirely.
The medallion has been replace by a reversible CC charm.
