Chloé F/W 06.07 Paris

It wasn't going to be easy passing the baton but I think they've done a commendable job. They seem to have hit the trends of extreme volume and extreme height in the Chloe vein.
A bit more detail or texture and some color would have been welcome, but they also got the GREY trend down.
Damn those shoes, there's going to be a few broken ankles this winter with all the Westwood type shoes out there...

The only thing I can say is this, those clothes made those 5'10, long and lean girls look positively dumpy so I can't imagine them looking remotely good on a real women.

everything was too simple, too washed out. not a fan:ninja:

but the shoes, oh the shoes...:crush:

Ouch!! review from style.com:

PARIS, March 4, 2006 – High-end fashion collections cannot be directed by committee, period. That ineluctable fact thudded onto the Chloé runway in exit one: a shapeless greige mac thrown over a frilled blouse and a pair of khaki pants hanging soggily from suspenders—a look finished with a pair of clunky bottines. Two or three more outfits—a couple of loose artist's smocks and a gray-olive wool dress layered over trousers—and it was clear that this collection was not about to snap with the vivacious, girl-friendly energy that Phoebe Philo brought to the house.

It would be exaggerating to call it definitively ugly—though a pair of giant overalls and saggy-backed, folded-front turn-up pants were close calls. The trouble is more that Chloé, for so long a pacesetter of perfectly thrown-together personal style, has now inevitably decelerated into the league of followers. Without the instinctive drive of a strong designer, team-driven analysis tends to look outside, see what other people are doing, and come up with a general trend consensus. Thus, the contents of Chloé now have shades of Marc Jacobs' latest layerings (shorts over pants) and hints of Marni-cum-Yohji abstract shapes (loose-waisted, hopsacky things), while anxiously hanging on to last season's baby doll to keep up the label's continuity.

In this interim period, there will certainly be pieces to keep things ticking over—the little blouses and some pretty party dresses detailed with haphazard ripples of chiffon pleats. Looking ahead, it may be impossible to replicate the exact quality of casual cool that Philo brought to this label, because that belonged to her alone. But that's not to say another designer can't do something equally exciting in their own way. To keep Chloé cooking, that change needs to happen, and fast.

That style.com review was too harsh, IMO. I'm fond of the new dresses, but the slouchy pants and loose tops are just too trying. Mower was also right about it not being incredibly original, I'm seeing a lot Marc Jacobs and some YSL with no unique spin.

The shoes are ugly. :yuk:

BTW, style.com should stop focusing on the models' faces and the shoes (no matter how beautiful they may be) and more on the detail of the clothing.

Im not a fan, and no wonder stam fell over if she was wearing shoes like that, there awful!

Well, I never was a fan either, but chloe's prettiness was its strength... Wearable, fresh clothes has been its trademark AND selling point AND what has previously made the brand the season setter....and now this is gone... Edgy did not work for the team who imo did not continue Philo's legacy... they tried to diversify it and show the fashion world that they can give their stigma on the collection... there's nothing wrong with this (I might have attempted it myself in their place) but it's not working... at all...:ninja:

what a great collection, way better than the 'usual' chloe of which i never been a fan of..

true that this may be a bit too fresh/dearing for the typical chloe customer or the Stella days and just one step beyond Phoebe's 'safe' route, but personally i love it, colour range and all.. Marni, Dries, Jacobs are all around this collection, but still it has a 'style' of it's own. fave the pleated off white empire dress worn over a pale blue blouse.

as for the colors, i believe that winter wardrobes always need a paler palette/alternative, to brake down darker shades and give a certain ellegance to the one's again strong and popular black.

the bags were fine but those shoes seem only fit for receiving friends at home.. too dangerous -and sexy- to wear outside the house

Yves for Chloe please

I like some of it... but this collection is not very convincing...

Roland Mouret to Chloé... please ^_^
