Chloe 'Silverado' Bag

oh dear, why don't you PM meomix, I think she has the python bag in the famous old brown color and maybe she could compare her purse to that.

meowmix, any thoughts on the bag the klow has posted?;)

Got these pics from ebay can someone please tell if this is authentic. The seller claims that this is the original brown. Something about the look inside of this bag does look off.

I'm fairly certain this isn't authentic. First of all, it doesn't even appear to be genuine python - if you look carefully at the close-up, you'll notice that the "scales" look hard and fake - real ones have loose edges and are softer with a change of color at the tips - (and at least one of them always looks just about ready to turn up at any time!) Second, the picture of the inside zipper shows a brown zipper on a cream color lining - every one of my pythons with a cream colored lining (brown, natural, green) have a matching cream colored zipper. And finally, the original Cognac python (which this would have to be, since it's not the newer Spring or Summer browns) didn't have the Chloe imprint stamped on the flap that goes over the front of the bag.

i can't believe all these fake chloe bags out now too. OMG. ebay has gotten so gross.

Its too bad because more than one person is going to be scammed b/c the fakes look good and the real bags are mostly sold by now. I've learned so much from this forum - but I found it by accident. Others may not be so fortunate.

i don't think the fakes look that good. i think they still look pretty fake. but i do believe you need to own one to know (which i do so maybe that's why i knew). also people on ebay must agree because if that was an authentic original brown python it would have been bid up or sold by now don't you think?

Thanks all for your comments and opinions I've now convinced that this is a fake one and there are more on ebay......Thankyou again!

I agree, and I think that you must se the bag in person to be really good at at it.

Pictures can look good, but i am sure the fakes look nothing like the real thing in daylight:rolleyes: .

Yes, no matter how tempting it is to bid for the original brown on ebay, it is best to stay away becasue there is just NO guarantee if it is authentic.

I was tempted many times before to buy what is supposedly the "original-brown" python on ebay, but in the end I chickened out because I am afraid of getting fakes. (Plus, the numerous pieces of advice that I got from the lovely people in this forum!)

I still think it is best to buy from reputable online dealers :flower:

well i don't know if i agree with not buying on ebay since if you want an original brown that's the only place you're going to find one (unless a friend or someone you know personally has one). i think it's ok to buy on ebay as long as you're really logical and educated about it. so for exmaple the seller with the original brown going for 1399.00 is OBVIOUSLY selling a fake bag since that's just way too cheap. also that fashionperson with the private feedback selling dozens of original browns is obviously selling fakes too.

I can see your point, tallulahrock and I do agree with you that there exists a certain degree of safety to purchasing, in this instance, the original brown, on ebay.

However, logic and research are important components leading to that invaluable authentic buy. But sometimes, handbags are an emotional thing to most people, especially when they want a certain design so badly.I think that that sets up a situation in which logic may get overruled by emotion, and a person is more likely to take a risk. Personally to me, the doubts and uncertainty that exists with an ebay buy, as well as the trouble of getting the bag authenticated, is just too much trouble.

To me, ebay is a great place for finding one-of-a-kind interesting stuff. However, I would not trust to spend my money on high-end designer stuff there just yet, simply because I do not trust myself to be logical and rational enough when it comes to bags.

Just my two cents' worth :flower:

Well said, girl!!! :flower: Definitely worth more than two cents... :D

To copy the style & design of a bag under a different brand i.e. Guess does that, is acceptable but to blatantly produce fake bags with a fake brand label is just too too much...and all those ebay sellers of fake stuff claiming authenticity    No words can describe the disgust.. :ninja:

The pewter is gorgeous!! The scales on mine are really tight and flat. The color is like a grey/black slightly metallic. Leshent had one on Ebay and his pics really captured the color well!

what do y'all think of the pewter?

I personally dont like the pewter to be honest, but thats because for the silverado bag, i somehow always prefer the more natural colors like brown.

the reason I asked is I received one today and while I agree with handbagbabe that it is objectively quite perfect (there must be something about how each color is applied that results in such variation in quality), I can't decide how I feel about the color. it is beautiful to look at. I would call it "carbon" because it looks like metallicized pencil lead. and it's not too gaudy -- quite subdued for a metallic bag. I just don't know . . .

Hmm...personally, I prefer more brown tones for the silverado.

Or I guess another reason for you to consider is..will you carry the pewter often? Can you see it working with a lot of pieces in your closet?
