every time a celebrity gets into trouble like this, their first line is always "i found god" which is a load of sh*& because they just happened to want the help from god now... what perfect timing

Lmao...now he's a man of God? I seriously don't think that's the best way to spin this. As If he really went to his Pastor for counselling....who does he think he is Miley Cyrus?

I know this is stereotypical and not necessarily true, but the African American population is highly religious, so I don't have any reason to doubt that.

^you have no reason to doubt that even though it's a stereotype?
and well, chris brown grew up singing in church, no?
i guess the "not necessarily true" puzzles me a bit only because you go on to state it like it's a fact..
anyway..i'm not trying to make this about race.

i need you boo

ETA: i wonder if Chris Brown has been beating Rihanna up for a long time. You know what they say, most men are walking time bombs...

^That's all well and good, I'm very religeous too, BUT looking at his statement and the comments about God, his Pastor, Facebook, Blogs and people stealing his identity...it just wreaks of damage control. He should be apologising more than and defending himself less, it's too wordy, it seems tacky that he'd try nulify his actions and insinuate that God will make the ramifications go away. I suspect he's spent much more time in the Lawyer's office than in Church. This seriously isn't the time to talk about blogs and how his image is damaged or identity stolen, like Lionel Richie said, it's time to own up to it and simply apologise. You're 19, 6'2 and 195 pounds, if you're gonna punch like a man then you better act like a man.

"You think you know somebody, but you really don't," he told People.

sometimes i wish that people wouldnt say such vague things in their statements because it can stirr up many things and let people make up stories based on 1 sentence.

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook
, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”
That statement has obviously been written by his PR team and he had nothing to do with its redaction.
If you read between the lines, it is also deeply offensive:

1- he is sorry about what has been written, not about what he's done, which is of course a way to sound contrite without admitting any guilt or wrongdoing whatsoever.

2- he is seeking God's help because he knows Middle America in general and African-Americans in particular love a good holy redemption story.
The fact that what he really needs is see a f****** psy here is beyond the point. When you want to sell record Jesus>>>>Freud.

3- not a single mention of Rihanna or expression of concern over her well-being because his team is trying to turn the angle of the story in his favour, him the poor the lost boy on the road to redemption. Don't you feel sorry for him? Let's all pray for him.

I have been really willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and being compassionate to both sides, and tried to understand him before damming him but by agreeing to that kind of PR nonsense being released in his name, he is just done for me.

A$$hole!

CHRIS BROWN'S OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Finally, Chris Brown has just issued an official statement through his spokesperson concerning the assault situation with Rihanna . This is indeed a real statement and not a hoax like others have been posting from fraudulent Facebook/Myspace pages. The statement was issued directly to media outlets from his PR reps at Sitrick And Company, Inc. It reads in its entirety:

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. Imagine what's being paid to this PR company, contemplate the cost per word of this statement, and then realize this is the very best they could come up with ...

:shock::blush:

You're so right Harumi not a single mention of Rihanna, this definitly reads "I'm sorry for what's written about me".

C'mon middle America lets all go and save Chris Brown!

Yeah the statement is kind of weak, Entertainment Weekly reported that his record label and team were looking to hire a "cleaner" for him. I just don't know if that will work though...it took a full week to say "I'm sorry" and he doesn't even mention Rihanna. And says there is false reporting, but if it's so false then why apologize?

Lets hope he has found GOD , coz I dont want this happening to any other woman again. And I would also like to have seen him mention Rihanna in the statement. But since he didnt just shows that he blames her and is trying to make himself look like the victim.

^or maybe God will find him in knock some sense into him ^_^

To be honest, I am a bit disappointed in the statement his PR team released... he should have mentioned something about Rihanna's well being... afterall we have yet to see any pics of her showing the world that she is indeed fine.

Moreover, Chris Brown has mentioned before that he grew up singing in the church... so it's fine that at this time of self reflection and self improvement, he should turn to his faith.

His statement could and should have been written better! What the hell is that? Or more importantly who was paied to write that? Harumi you are dead on, its pitiful, and just wont cut it!

It's always fine to turn to faith in times of difficulty, but it's something else altogether to pay big bucks to have someone write statements about your turning to your faith. Somehow it doesn't quite ring true to me ... OTOH, perhaps he is offering up prayers reminding God that he's his homeboy

I'm not sure they really could say anything about Rihanna. The "saddened" part makes it sound like something he wasn't the direct cause of. If the statement mentions her ... it just reminds everyone that he is in fact the direct cause of the problem. Maybe it could have been done, but you'd certainly need more of a genius than wrote that statement, as well as a completely different strategy. Here they are distancing him from what's happened , and casting doubt on what's been written. And of course what they say is true--of all the words that have been written about this, there must be some that aren't true. And then lots of words went into denying the Facebook thing, making it pretty clear to me that that's about all he didn't do.

- This statement was a little cliched. I don't like when people commit crimes and suddenly find God again. I hope he talks to a therapist and seeks anger management also.

- Chris is just 19. His behaviour and attitude now will define him has a man.

- The statement sounds like someone who is scared sh!tless.
