PS: When the show takes place and pics will come out, a new thread should be created...I'm posting this here because I'll take it one of you guys will be the one who'll open it :p

ooh I'm so excited! the venue is amazing and just Dior in general!

does anyone know what time pictures are being released on the 2nd?

If the show starts at 8, that means it'll start at 8.30-8.45...usually it takes Yahoo News about 1,5 hours to upload first pics, so the first pictures will prob come out between 10 and 10.30 PM GMT+1 daylight savingstime. :flower:

thanks Mr-Dale:flower:

but are you know beijing time in that day when the show is start?^_^

11 pages for a Galliano show? That hasn't started yet?

I feel ashamed for Versailles... the same way I felt ashamed when Chanel runway was in La Sorbonne. Thoses places full of history deserve better than this.
I guess now that doesn't make any difference, art is fashion, fashion is art, a cadaver in my closet and Galliano in Le Louvre... and yet people are complaining about how the world is becoming so shallow.

So you are trying to say that back in the 18th century they weren´t shallow at Versailles?, because that sounds quite crazy to say the least...
Versailles itself is an example of shameless excess, what better place to showcase an haute couture presentation, which is all about man made excessive clothes.

An excellent point j'adore

But if it's outside what will happen if it starts to rain
That could be amazing, presentation wise anyway. Imagine those gorgeous bias cut silks clinging to the skin and partially transparent, wet hair concealing part of the face.....of course, McQueen's covered that territory before, albeit with a different type of liquid in mind.

Such a beautiful image! But then again, that would require the models to model and some are so lame so......:innocent:

Hmmm. Well despite the fact I love Sofia Coppola, I guess too many people (not you :flower: , in general) believe that Marie-Antoinette is "real", that it's was "fun", "cool", "colorful", etc. 17th and 18th centuries are made of blood and iron, and even in the peaceful days, the era was highly cultural and very strict, either in the intellectual way, or concerning the mores (Mme de Maintenon, and the likes). Everything, from the gimmicky dresses to the jewels, was codified and had to represent one's real rank in the social ladder.

Concerning the place, well, the garden isn't baroque (in the popular meaning), so I don't see which legetimity Galliano would have.

Besides, I absolutely DISPISE any mixing between what is cultural and what is not. Leave the Renoirs in the museums, and the fashion runways in the Ateliers Berthier, and everything will be fine.
What's next? Ralph Lauren and The Museum of Modern Art? Giorgio Armani at Oxford?

I don´t understand your point of view, in a way you respect everything that has to do with culture, specially France´s, but you don´t respect haute couture?, you don´t think it has a lot to do with frances idiocyncracy, legacy and the image the coutry projects to the world?, we are not talking about Tommy Hilfiger showing on the mirror saloon, we are talking about a quintecentially French couture house celebrating its trajectory in a place as opulent as its design style, and that´s reason enaugh for it to be a coherent choice for the venue.

I think you don´t see haute couture as the last entirely man produced way of fabrication this days and the influences that built this sort of collections, why a collection that was inspired by Renoir, cannot be presented where the actually picture is hanged?, a dress that required 1000 hours on man work, is not as relevant or artistic as a paint or an sculpture?

Try watching documentaries like Signé Chanel, maybe you´ll get a better picture of what Haute couture is all about and the relevance it has on today´s world and of course of France´s :flower:

^Actually, I understand what the poster means. It's a little...hmmm....'demeaning' to display a couture show in a French Palace.

^But can't it be argued that Versailles is just a tourist attraction now, anyway?

^^Perhaps if it were Victoria's Secret...but a couture presentation is perfect for Versailles I think...

ill scan the invite..i got the invite because of some family members who are top Dior HC clients..
