Yea, Dior has lost all relevance, the last Dior collection that mattered was SS 05 Haute Couture (and subsequently FW 05 RTW), that collection was so fresh, ugh, I still look back on it. I dont know where that came from, such good taste, an amazing collection.

SS 04 HC was the last time the drag queen look was still cool, FW 04 HC was just an exercise in how much fabric can be used.

^every fan of Galliano has his own point of view about his shows...
Galliano always is cool,
but like a deep fan of him I understand that he is still
repeating some stuff, but I really love that very big browns!

oh, and If i worked for VOGUE..
heu you should be an editor... it's Dior Couture show... it's not rtw! not every asst. go to Couture!
someone wants to gatecrash the security...?:ninja:

Is it just me or does it seem like every other couture show is some special occasion? Dior's Birthday, Galliano's 10th year, etc. Seems like they'll squeeze out any reason to make Galliano's efforts seem relevant.
that's what I thought... that there already were some celebrations before... but I wasn't sure...
it's also 50yrs Anniversary of C.Dior death

Even SS 07 HC, Diorling?

Matrix? So I'm guessing this collection will be futuristic?
and in Versailles? and the girls need to be 8 hours before the show?
sounds promissing :woot:
looking sooo forward to watch this
Galliano you god..

^ The Matrix theme was back in 99 when he last showed in Versailles :flower:

Even SS 07 HC, Diorling?
Definately. That collection, while gorgeous and technically brilliant, was completely irrelevant and was nothing but eye candy. The whole collection broke down to ombre and tiers, trends that were already very well established.

The only thing I can conclusively say right now is that the show itself will be amazing...that's a given really, but taking into account the venue, the significance, the call time....I have higher expectations then I usually do for a Dior couture show.

Honestly, I have no feeling about where John's gonna go with this. I hope to god it doesn't look back to the 40s/50s/60s cause I have had my fill of vintage couture inspirations in the fashion arena. He needs to go back to his roots, vaguely 30's inspired bias cut silhouettes, cross-referencing different cultures to the point where they look unlike anything else, and something almost dark. His stuff during his heyday was always slightly perverse, he's lost that edge and I miss it terribly.

I'm begging for a FWHC 2003/SSHC 2004 hybrid show. I loved the intensity of FWHC 2003 mainly!

Some bejeweled kinkiness wouldn´t be bad at all...

I also have high expectations from this show, maybe most of us will have a first dissapointing impression of it, it usually happens when having so much anticipation about something.

Just found this in another thread! (Henry + Aggys) :woot:

"AGGY and I have been friends since we were 12. She used to serve chips to me when she worked at the local chippy," says Henry Holland, talking about his best friend and model-of-the-moment Agyness Deyn, with whom he is planning a design collaboration. "We're going to launch a line of jewellery together. You can expect a bit of House of Holland in it and a bit of Aggy too - she's got a strong sense of design." Holland, made famous for his cheeky slogan T-shirts last year, chatted to Ella Windsor at the Quintessentially and Van Cleef & Arpel summer party, held in the conservatory of Mayfair's stunning Wallace Collection. Also at the event were Richard Ascott and Philip Colbett, the duo behind contemporary label Rodnik. "We've started a band because it makes selling clothes more interesting. The Rolling Stones and all those incredible bands were dressed by amazing designers and we want to do the same. Fashion's all about rock 'n' roll." On the other side of the room, Stephen Jones, having flown in from Paris just hours earlier, waxed lyrical about John Galliano's upcoming couture show. "It's going to be held at the Orangerie at Versailles, and it's black tie. Even the press have to wear black tie - so you'd better get your tiara out!" (June 12 2007, AM)
