^^ confirmed by who? where?
Even though I'm skeptical about this newly released info regarding the inspiration, I do hope that it isn't the case because that seems so utterly cheesy.
It could go either way, really (although, either way, I'll still love it, I'm sure, cheesy OR not!

). It'd be cheesy if John took it in a bubbly, bright colored underwater direction, as if it were Disney's
The Little Mermaid gone Haute Couture....or....he could do it in a more sophisticated, darker underwater way, a la Bjork's "Medulla" video, also kind of like Givenchy Haute Couture SS 07, which inspiration was also mermaids (although it won't be similar in the slightest, I'm sure). I'm expecting great things with this show and theme. I'd love to see some amazing sequinned and embroidered mermaid dresses made to look like corral or sea foam...with the model's hair dripping wet with runny mascara. It should be awesome.
a little this plus this and this-

And about the comment regarding the nautical theme not fitting Versaille...well, neither did the Matrix themed show he did there a few years back, either! It'd be too cliche for John to do Marie Antoinette at Versailles.
