(NEW YORK)
Christian Dior’s couture show on July 2—part birthday blowout, part supermodel reunion—is guaranteed to be an extravaganza of unparalleled status. The all-night festivities, to which 1,000 celebrities, clients, and editors have been invited, are taking place at L’Orangerie de Versailles, and will commence at sunset under a dress code billed as “extreme elegance.” As for the show itself, Galliano, who recently went to Sevilla, Spain with his studio team, said Thursday night at his eponymous men’s show in Paris that the undoubtedly blockbuster collection will be inspired by Dior’s 60th anniversary. For one, it will boast the longest runway of any fashion show in history. It will also be dedicated to Steven Robinson, his unwavering right-hand man, who died suddenly in April at the young age of 38.
A true supermodel reunion is also expected, with names like Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell all rumored to be re-emerging onto the catwalk. A gaggle of the bold-faced models will also host the afterparty in the gardens of Versailles.
Jeremy Healy, a veteran of Galliano’s runway productions, will continue to mastermind the music, while Michael Howells will oversee set design and Alex de Betak will produce the show. What’s more, Vogue Italia has enlisted Steven Klein—who just signed on to shoot all of Details’ forthcoming covers—to document the show and afterparty for an upcoming issue. The famed photographer is expected at Versailles over the weekend to walk the venue and familiarize himself with the space. To accommodate Klein's needs, Dior has even constructed a special booth on the side of the runway for him to work out of.

aahh I was sure about this... and i really hoped for this!!!
I'm waiting for the show itself a lot but now I cannot wait for the after party candids... it's gonna be (hopefully) insane!

i expect 20% increase in Couture price. Everything at Dior for next season will go up. $200 keychain will be $250. $8000 gownwill be $10000. $500 for scarf. $900 for a pair of stupid earings wilth silver coated CD logo.

AAAhhhh! my boyfrriend just got us 2 invitations for the aftershow party!

I am over excited... i have no idea of what i am going to wear... my wardrobe sucks!

Wish i could see the show aswell!

"Extreme elegance" dress code.....
Longest runway.....
Spain......
Inspired by 60th anniversary
Supermodels.....

I cannot handle this.....I want to go to sleep and wake up when the show is happening.

So now that we know that the theme is going to be/might be Spain.I am picturing flamenco ruffles, lace mantillas and matador jackets !!!!!! What do u guys think ?????

I think the only way Spain will turn up will be in the nature of the humanity...very robust, lively, and energetic.......not so literal.

The longest runway? I hope that means the models will have a little more sensible shoes. S/S couture seemed pretty long, though, so that'll be hard to beat.

I just wish I could see one of those invitations!

Now I'm officially excited.

I hope the show lives up to the hype. Hopefully Galliano doesn't go for the literal once again. As for 1,000 celebrities, is that entirely necessary?

YEAH!!

People in Sevilla ar known for its possitive energy and constant desire of celebration, which is a great theme to capture the soul of a collection which is about that!, they are also known for being "calientes", so maybe some kinkiness is ahead too?, the longes catwalk in history?, one crossing the orangerie´s building from end to end?

I cannot kept but thinking now about fall 2003 with all those sevillan coloured ruffles, but I know they will come up with something different, and I hope to see rich flower embroideries, lots and lost of sensuallity and energy.

since this celebration has partially begun because of a tragic lost the presentation could have different levels, start with a melancholic mood and increase into fierce joy!

what means?

That you can only attend it dressing one of your galas (even photographers and camera man)
