Thanks for the article. I think there is one important name missing from it, Carol Christian Poell.

I was thinking how I wish I could cut and sew like that. Then Clay came to mind since you work with leathers.

Those fastenings are quite ingenious, no?

they're t-pins with a little nub at the end ...no?...sort of the next step to a safety pin...very cool...

Yeah. I was curious if they work like a hook and eye or if they have a slit to actually pin through. Either way, I love the idea.

i don't know...but i love it too and i want to see it in person...

exactly

that little nub at the end is a magnet.
it's at your option. single-, double-zip, hook and eye, button, etc.
also it's characterized by seamless, reversible, no lining despite leather ( the concept of "one piece" is at the root of the line).
the highlight of Sartoria is its unique and innovative work called "digital hand-stitch". (undone in the picture)
these elaborate techniques defy all description, displaying immense craftmanship.

yeah...thanks runner...you seem to be the expert on this line...good to have you around...and i'm with chris...now i'm even more intrigued...

i had no idea that the guys who started the line were the guys from chrome hearts...

you're very welcome.
I just observed the work of Sartoria on the first occasion. so, of course, didn't order anything from the line.

made a mistake in the last sentence (post 29), again...
I should have written "this elaborate technique defies all description,"
I meant technique as digital hand-stitch.

softgrey, they used leather & buttons made of sterling silver, so just reminiscent of Chrome Hearts in their early days.

digital handstitch?...God, I love technology....now I'm even MORE intrigued. And I love the merchandising on meat hooks.

purechris, "digital" is but a nominal title. it's practically elaborate creation by hand.
roughly speaking, the point of the idea is "to wear letters". ideograph will do.
you can select any words, phrases...whatever you like. then they are represented as stitching by leather string. seemingly they would look like hieroglyphics. I can describe dh-s no more. anyway it's something stunning.

basically, Sartoria is a made-to-measure line derived from Linea (the third line), with digital hand-stitch added as design accent.
and now, the fifth called Anatomico is developing from Sartoria.

BTW, that reversibility common to all his lines is not intended just for enjoyment of two different ways of wearing a garment, but for adoration of a garment which has nothing to do with the notion of the right and wrong sides, under the fundamental concept of "one piece".

here is a tester (right term?) of Sartoria which consists of 9 sizes.
you can see rough stitching of XXX...there the actual dh-s is done. (this is just a suggestion, so it's all at your option, maybe any part of the garment)

Sample :flower: is the right term.

Thanks for the info, I am getting more and more intrigued. I love the stitching, looks like Jurgi Persoon's "nervous" stitching a little.

Not really, I would say 15 pieces. I haven't seen more than that anywhere else though. IF has like 5 pieces. I don't think Barneys will carry it any longer in NYC. That's all the stocklist I can think of for NYC. I wonder who else has it in the United States.

thanks for the right term faust.

Maxfield or Fred Segal?

maybe this info needs to be updated.
