Hey everyone, I'm sort of new here and thought I'd write my first real post.
I'm studying Makeup Artistry and have to do a huuuge history project - I'm here asking (or begging) for your help! I have to collect as many pictures of historical makeup/faces/hairdo's in a looong timeline from Ancient Egypt to the present day. I start my quest at a British Museum on friday...

If anyone has pictures (photographs, portraits, anything!) of a certain era, could you post it in here? I'm asking because I know how clued up you lot seem to be here.

Many many thanks in advance, X

What an extremely interesting project Ilora-Danon..

I'd love to try and help you out.'

I have a book with make-up images (Kevin Aucoin).. there is a section dated from 1920 to 1990 I think.. ..It's late here.. but I'll be sure to scan some pictures for you tomorrow.

I hope a lot of members will help you out.. I for one can't wait to see this thread grow :flower:

Oh you should have a look at our subforum Icons of the past.. there are a lot of images of icons of the 20th century..

All images scanned by me from 'The Art of Makeup' by Kevyn Aucoin.

You can also look for some info here (mainly 60´s 50´s makeup)

I don´t know if you know french, but here you can find some v. useful information on this subject.

Anyway, i would advise you to search by era in Google images, and find the proper pictures for each era.

For certain eras, you can search by films, ex: for egyptian makeup look for Cleopatra the movie, for Elizabethian times look for Elizabeth the movie and so on.
That way, you will have good images and not only portraits of the time.

The theme is just great, but it will be v. hard work!
