Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

No, they're pants, not jeans. Which is why they're not in jeans sizing.

Dior homme 34 is just a normal 34 (if its us sizing).
For jeans they are cut one size larger than labeled to wear them low waisted.

I think you mean 44 euro?
Which is a size 28 waist.

34 Euro would be ridiculous..

^Thanks Raijin. It's what YOOX refers to as a 34 (USA), which is supposed to be the equivalent to a 44 (EUR). But last time I ordered a pair of pants in a size 44, they were a 30" waist, which is why I was asking.

Yoox's sizing charts are more than a bit confusing..
and no problem, glad to help :flower:

Can anyone tell me what season those hoodies were from? I remember a neon yellowish one and a turquoise? I'm having a friend hunt me down one but she doesn't know what season they're from either and I can't seem to find pics of past shows online. Any help would be great...also if by chance anyone knows what they retailed for I'd appreciate it.

34 translates to a 50 euro.

For jackets you can roughly add +10 and get the euro size but it's not the same for pants :)

So a euro 44 would actually be us size 28 I think but it might be closer to 30" depending on the cut of the pants. I believe at least some DH pants size 50 runs about 35" , or a little bigger than normal. Whereas some Pradas I have that are size 50 are more like 32-33".

its just a difference of 16, euro pants size minus 16. and replying to what you said about your prada and dior pants. every brand fits differently, your prada pants are 50 meaning they are 34, but they may fit smaller but its still a 34.

They are from Luster collection. A/W 2003-2004.

Im fairly sure the cut of the jeans has not changed from votc.
The classic blue jeans would be a good investment though.

Denim is the one consistently good thing about DH that they do not normally cut corners on.

I got the same feeling as FTB about the shirts of s/s 05 and some of the jackets as well - from the advance collection they had in tokyo.

There were some interesting blazers and what not - but most of them seemed quite overpriced.

Its a shame that in reality the articles will not be as distressed as on the runway.

Talked with the owner of the store that carries DH here. He said some of the blue denim jeans were cut more slim in S/S 2005.

EdK they still got the eye cashmere sweater at our local DH retailer. It's around £250.

Made a quick call to DH NYC today... the peacock tshirt is sold out already (it was $175!!! 1/2 the cost of the tees from last season)!!! Apparently they have what sounds like some really crappy designs on tees this season. The SA said that they had one with an i-pod on the front and another with a turntable. Where the hell is Dior Homme going????

I'm currently working on sourcing out the peacock tee (I really like the design) as well as that ultra-long fringed scarf from VotC. I should have bought it when I saw it in Barneys months ago... c'est la vie.

Oh and if anyone is interested. I have a pair of brand new, absolutely pristine Dior Homme sneakers from Red. Hedi's second season and pretty much impossible to find. They are a hybrid design of dress shoes (rubber/leather sole with 1/2 inch heel) and Adidas Stan Smiths. They are tagged as a size 7 but actually fit a 9-9.5 US.

I also have a pair of the black painted blue Dior jeans, brand new with hangtag and unhemmed. They are a size 32.

e-mail me or message me if you are interested or would like to see pictures. Make me an offer before I pop them up on ebay.

Cheers,
Albert

hmm...I have to disagree with you there. The quality of Dior Homme's suits at least is very good.

Also no offense or anything, but you seemed to have made this switch in tastes quite abruptly...i remember it was like what, 2 weeks ago Dior Homme was still one of your favorite brands, and if I remember correctly it was a favorite of yours for quite some time. Hrm.

FtB, I think it's totally natural to shift your tastes :flower: I think I've had abrupt shifts as well. Raijin looks smitten after seeing Linea/Poell/Ann Dem. stuff in person, and that is the biggest key. It may seem abrupt, but something he experienced made that shift, I think it's totally fine.

since the fashion week is coming soon, what are your predictions of what hedi is gg to show for the dior homme f/w 2005-2006 collection?

I think he will built on the 80's/lost youth theme of the past two collections.

Agreed. I hope they don't shift the production from Japan to Italy, I think it would be a disaster.

Hi Albert,

The peacock tee seems to have been sold out in the UK as well, as reported by a friend of mine.

On top of the peacock and turnable, there's also one with a walkman (resembling the very first one by Sony), a microphone and another a group of speakers. Frankly to say, I can't see how special such designs are, except the fabric being mercerised cotton. You may also be astonished later when you see the accompanying silver (or silver-coated) brooches in the shape of a walkman, a microphone, a turnable, a guitar and a miniature sneaker , if you're not too much taken aback by the skull-filled necklaces and bracelets. There'll also be a lot in silver, black and colour beads, round and elongated, with the silver and black ones mainly round.

As given in the catalogue in a grey-product importer, there're a LOT of sneaker styles, nearing 20 in total with most inspired by Converse's, high and low-rise ones. The pointed "D" belts, in black and brown leather, coated red, orange, pink, blue canvas, with silver or brass buckle, may be the relatively more interesting item. They cost about USD240. A variety of canvas belt in horizontal stripes (about USD200) are also available. A variation to the pointed "D" leather belt, another with a leather buckle in the shape of deformed guitar and another with a rectangular silver buckle, of which the fastening is a smaller rectangle at the far-end, are also available.

Most of the leatherware will be of the "Dior Classic", "Black Monogram" or "Dior Travel" series, but a limited supply in "Plisse Dior" and "Dior Black Leather". Schade! :(

Hi Faust,

As far as I can remember, it's only in 2002-3 a/w (Reflection) and 2003 s/s (Follow Me) that the denim items were totally manufactured in Japan. The ones in the subsequent seasons, except the signature black distressed jeans with washed whiskers, are made in Italy. Though not that apparent, the craftmanship seems to be have deteriorated since 2003 s/s.

Perhaps also an extension to the intra-brand product diversification with more mass-market items of relatively lower prices and a transparent sub-series of ultra-luxury items, such as jackets, rare leather, fur and bespoke pieces.
