Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

No, if anything, you should buy one size down, because the waist runs big.

thanks faust. seems counterintuitive though, but i guess not since they're meant to ride low.

yeah the sweater is kind of short...when I wore the medium it was barely covering the belt area, so if you wanna do something like a tuck you might wanna go with a large.

edit: I'm wearing the same pants as the guy in that pic today! :woot:

I got that courdory pants too!;) love the treatment on the pants.. but I am so afraid to wash it because the color might be lost...

exactly. it's the leg width you should worry about. there is a very slim version.

yeah I'm scared to wash it too...which is why I'm paranoid when I wear those pants. I guess try washing them inside out?

Chinorlz, are you ah008j on ebay? If so what is the buy it now price for those size 32 DH jeans you're selling?

Hi Fade to Black, yeah i'm ah008j. I'm looking for $305 for the jeans. It's the price I paid for them myself so I'm not looking to profit. Like the post says, they're brand spanking new with the tag attached. They'll come in the ziploc bag that all Dior items are shipped to stores in as well. Also, that price includes shipping via priority mail. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

As for washing DH items, I don't really notice any treatments washing off really (though I heard that the pvc from Luster was prone to cracking and such). I had another pair of the black painted blue jeans that I now have up on ebay that I wore a lot and not even the black paint washed off. I just took care to wash them mostly by hand, or at the very most in the washer with only 1 other pair of DH jeans and both were inside out. I air dried them as well with no problems.

Hope that helps, and talk to you soon.
Cheers,
Albert

The quality in denim looks like its going down even, although its still pretty good.
I hear some models wear out after a year or so.
Especially the treated ones.
The details are nothing spectacular..
Honestly, the faded black jeans look a bit funny when actually worn.
If you've seen pictures from the follow me show, you'll know what I mean.

Which faded black jeans are you talking about? The whiskered ones that I posted?

Oh man hearing that some models wear out after a year REALLY sucks...damn that's insane. My G-Star jeans have lasted me 4 years and are holding up fine. Dior Homme costs like 3 times as much as G-Star and now I'm hesitant to pick up some those black jeans.

Yeah... if you look inside the tag.. it has washing instructions...and it says wash by hand and like colors etc... but still as you know the treatment of the color always fade... no matter how hard you prevent it... :o

Oh well.. I guess it is planned obsolete....

FTB.. yeah.. I heard that the Dior Waxed jeans the wax does start to peel and 'freying' I guess is the right word to use... and... after much wear.. the crotch area might start to tear. MIGHT... not happen to all the jeans...

One solution that was suggested it that if it does start to tear you can start putting patches on it.. so it looks like you have worned for several years... I guess that is what Hedi's inspiration came from which is street wear that is suppose to become old and patched... (I am sure much has been written on this forum about it!)...

One of Hedi's previous assistant has the concept about the cloth that a good pair of jeans should stay with you for the rest of your life. To see you go through your life event. That item becomes intimately attached to you and you alone. I think that concept is still prevalent in a lot of DH collection although not as strong because DH has become more commercial.

Don't you love the irony!

I would say its just poor craftsmanship and inspiration is an excuse.
Is it the style for my DH dress shirt to fray after only 3 or 4 wears?

I remember reading that comment Hedi's assistant said about denim...that was talking about the new label the assistant was designing for women, but in the context of Dior Homme it's very ironic.

BTW I wouldn't buy the waxed jeans...but the whiskered black jeans i posted look nice though, do you have any experience with the quality of that pair?

Raijin what exactly do you mean by the dress shirt frays after 3 or 4 wears? I love the cut of my dress shirt but now that you mention it I'm scared to wear it, that REALLY sucks. That shirt wasn't cheap either.

random question. what music does he play at the shows? he mentioned libertines and franz ferdinand in his details interview... is that what he played at the fall show? anyone know about previous shows?

That's a good question I've been meaning to ask for some time too. Is there anywhere I can hear the soundtracks to Dior runway shows?

Franz Ferdinand sounds appropriate since they wear Hedi's clothes...I don't think I've ever heard the Libertines, is that punk?

I REALLY wanna hear the tunes Beck did for S/S 05 show.

The collar is beginning to fray for me, and I've heard stories of the shirts fraying from other people too.

yeah that collar looks mighty fragile...oh man that sucks. Did it start to fray after washing or dry cleaning, or simply wearing?

simply wearing im afraid.
just be careful, its going to fray eventually anyway.
This is why im such a quality hound, I don't like $350 purchases going to pot.
