Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

from what i have seen there are 3 different styles for 05 a/w one is with the zipper in the back then there is 2 different color orange overdye - one is more blue and one is more purpleish.

in my attempt to locate a size 27 for the orange overdye blue jeans...i called several stores around the world...london, singapore, shanghai, paris...tried calling the stores in Japan but i think they were closed already.

interestingly, when i spoke to a sales person at the Paris store in Avenue Montaigne, i was told that size 27 for this particular jeans does not exist. 28 is the smallest they make them in. the sales people at Harrods and Selfridges in London took my particulars and said they would contact me if a size 27 arrives, without any indication that it may not even be available at that size.

the item number for this pair of jeans is
5HH1015420 475 B604 or
5SH1015420 475 B604

can anyone confirm this?

I have to say, it's a really.... weird piece.

I mean, just how functional is it really? Is a guy REALLY going to wear it? It's quite a feminine piece that masquerades as a masculine one what with all the typical biker/military stylings but then with no sleeves.

It reminds me of when a girl is given a guy's jacket to wear over their shoulders with their arms inside (think after a prom dance). That is, it looks fine on Kate, but if I saw it on a guy I'd just say it looked odd. The capes Hedi designed this season are just plain strange and are this weird mix of classic Hedi and a step towards haute couture. Unfortunately, I don't see it being a successful step. The final product just looks like the wearer is trying too hard. In my opinion, the clothes should draw attention to the wearer, not the other way around. Hedi's designs all did that in the past in my opinion. The clothes were of course admired and envied, but it was all about that silhouette, the overall "look", how it presented the wearer.

That being said,
I'll stay with the items that actually have sleeves, thanks.

Regarding product number prefixes:

'EH' refers to Spring/Summer.
'HH' refers to Autumn/Winter.

'SH' and 'WH' are what to be believed as pre-released/pre-season items before the relevent season - 'cruise' collection pieces, if you wish to call it that.

i think would be interesting seeing people posting picture of them wearing their dior.....anyone out there proud enuff to strut their stuff here? :p

Well I don´t see what´s wrong with this season´s tailored capes, at least the one from look 1 that was also presented in grain de poudre with satin collar. I agree they are not for everybody but they might work well on a person with a small shoulders. I´d totally see myself wearing one with black cavalry boots and a long knitted skarf around the neck... I actually liked the way the boys looked fragile, almost a bit feminine in the long capes, I think it´s typically Hedi and a natural evolution of what he always did - even back in the Saint Laurent days, there were pieces that were not necessarily designed for the sake of wearability but to create an image - this season in particular was a bit more daring, androgynous as usual but it´s not like these capes were looking ridiculous or contrived worn - leave this to Raf to create superhero-worthy, experimental clothes for the brave (especially his beloved cloaks).

Hell yea, the capes were the BEST part of the collection ^_^ .

Well, I think it is one thing to appreciate them on the catwalk (which I definitely did, along with those crazy knit cape/cloaks too), but if I saw someone walking down the street wearing it i would definitely think they were trying too hard.

What I liked about a lot of the Dior Homme designs of the past was their wonderful balance of wearability and opulence. You would stand out when wearing Dior, but I never saw it in an 'attention crusader' sort of way.

Long story short, I like my shirts and outerwear to have sleeves! hahahaha

I'm with u on that one Albert. I tend to like the old stuff better as well.. but I keep buying Dior, cause its still the best and there is still subtle pieces in the latest collection which are in thread with the older stuff. I actually thin that s/s 2006 are more back the "basic" (typical perhaps) Hedi than what we've seen in the last few collections.... am I wrong or right?

Those pics did not do it for me. The model seems SO totally out of place. Looks like somebody manipulated his head onto the clothes..
Those pocahontas scarves are pretty cool, but not when used like this.. :/
