Dior Homme - Runway

In general I think the quality NEVER warranted the prices they charge.

But those early seasons were much better in terms of details and a bit better in terms of quality as well.

You know, looking at the past collections - they are so much more Dior. Do you know what I mean? It is Dior after all, and it looked like Hedi adhered at least somewhat to the Dior aesthetic (the way he did it at YSL). Now it's just second hand rock-n-roll clothes, nothing Dior about it....

I have to agree with you there faust...it seems the earlier collections had more of a high fashion feel while the stuff that's been coming out as of late is very street.

Chinorlz it is interesting you say the older items are cut very unforgivingly...it seems from these pictures that for the most part previous seasons had baggier pants and what not...while recent collections have the super slim jeans/trousers that the brand is now famous for.

Arguably the most original of Hedi's collections for Dior, ladies and gentlement...Dior Homme Fall 2003:

Luster collection was a true masterpiece, in my opinion.

I'll be back soon to post Spring 2004.

Luster and Strip only left me with great ambivilance, they were very original, exquisite in details. Although they are masterpieces, many of the pieces were over done, and although they are great to look at, I can't imagine myself wearing many of those pieces. I particularly liked the black pants, except for the overly glossy ones. There were some very nice pieces, again, gorgeous details, but all in all, for me it's only a collection to look at, with the exception of a few pieces.

I :heart::heart: this collection, but it's still a bit over done.

Hedi wishes they were very original.
Many of the looks seem to be ripped straight from Ann Dem shows and
Early Raf.
You would be suprised how much of this stuff existed in the punk scene before Hedi brought the 'high-end version'.

I don't really have anything against hedi himself (although I think hes a mediocre designer as a whole) however, I can't stand when he gets all the credit for a look that other designers pioneered and he only made mainstream.

To his credit, he has some nice designs and details.
However, I've seen designers that have much more detailed work than him.

Definitely my favorite Dior Homme collection. I just love all the strappy, Edward Scissorhands-type stuff.:p

 daaamn son you really hate Dior Homme now huh

I wouldn't say I hate it...just not a big fan.
He has some relatively nice items now and again but nothing ground-breaking.
Everything I said was completely true.

I highly doubt Hedi Slimane just sat down and copied Raf Simon's work piece by piece.

:woot: Thank you so much for starting a thread like this! I've always wanted to browse the Dior Homme archives but didn't know where to find them!

As for this collection, I like it...I dig the minimalist aesthetic with the occasional splash of color thrown in, it's very futuristic.

Personally I prefer the sleek rock and roll look that Dior Homme has evolved into up to VotC but this collection is still quite nice. I'm guessing Hedi picked up where he left off at YSL with this collection?

Also if you could please post the "nicknames" each collection has for reference it would be greatly appreciated (i.e. S/S 04 = "Strip"). Thanks! :flower:

Oh, and you're welcome;)

If you've seen Ann dem's work, some of the looks seem to be very similar.
A lot of these people were around way before him.
All im saying is that he did not by any means invent the style.

If your familiar with a lot of other designers you can really see the similarities.

Thats all, back to the topic of the thread.

Though from what i remember reading (can't remember where, i think it was in the DH Group), they were love partners? And if so, wouldn't be surprised Hedi took influence from Raf.
