Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Gucci?

Simple, they finally realized the heritage and simplicity narrative backfired.
Current fashion's panorama only allows for HUGE talents or shock factor in order to gain quick success.
Sabato proved to be a terrible creative and his offerings were as basic and boring as a Mango online trunkshows.
They are betting on Demna's gimmicks now...
Remember that the same board that complained about Michele's menswear of underperforming due to offering being too feminine and linked to womenswear now bets on a designer Who released a gay pride capsule and had his husband close a runway show wearing a bridal dress LOL
But they were reciting this narrative as recently as last month, after ousting Sabato! That's why Kering is so maddening—there is no consistency or stability.

So who will move to Balenciaga now?
Pieter Mulier: that's the most strongest sources i have says it's him during fashion week buyers at ALAIA etc and teams were gossiping or exchanging info whatever we want to call it. 🤷‍♂️

(schiaparelli guy was a weaker info when i asked more people)

To be honest when I heard about Mulier potentially going to Balenc few weeks ago I didn’t bring it on tfs because I thought that my source was joking with me…lol .. your comment reminded me for the first time in weeks about this as I haven’t heard about that since

yes something's even if i trust my friends its hard to know with what tone and who said what while i was not there etc so something i push with questions lol think !!!!
how did she or he say it and how long did he she work with him or her etc etc lol

like per example: i heard phoebe philo is starting to sell well even if recent pop up where total flop but there is some buzz with shoppers getting in touch with the product etc picking lots of pieces up because the quality they can feel it and Phoebe is putting limits on the buying for upcoming season which is crazy because the barely started to sell lol

i am like i need to ask more people if this is true and i forget to ask and then its news months later and that little info makes sense in hindsight

i went through the five stages of grief in 25 seconds; now i’m just trying to process this move. i’m flabbergasted and enraged my king, hedi, didn’t take the helm
Flabbergasted? Come on! I don’t get how people truly thought it was going to be Hedi! It was never going to happen!!!!!

This is maybe the decission that has shocked me the most in my whole life as a fashion freak. Denma is so old fashioned that I could’ve never have imagined him being considered for even a less important position.

We’ve have enough of his Balenciaga. Everybody was expecting him to be kicked sooner or later.

All I can say is that Kering is clueless and they deserve the mess they are in. It’s so so so so so crazy.

Guys in all seriousness how long do you think he shall last at Gucci? Is this another ancora boy situation or will it be something significantly better? I’m very torn and confused about this appointment and don’t know what to think honestly.
It's so hard to say because who would have thought he'd last ten years at Balenciaga?

^who knows… I think it is literally the worst option/decission they could’ve made. I mean, even Jeremy Scott that someone mentioned here would’ve been fresher. It’s insane. I have no words.
I thought you'd say that hiring a female fashion designer would have been worse than Demna, based on your prior expressed views.

So the man who was lucky not to get outright cancelled two years ago and is also creatively sooo bankrupt, is rewarded with a position at another heritage house? The carousel of ever changing creative directors is spinning so fast out of control that I doubt there will be anyone else I remotely like at a fashion house in 2026.

With all due respect we've had to tolerate Demna's brooding post-Soviet normcore bull**** for almost exactly a decade and now it's going to last at least 15 years +? No, I don't buy it. Fashion is fickle but the basic/celebrity/hypebeast can't carry this aesthetic for much longer, it's so incredibly burnt out.

Im trying to understand suits decision making and logical processes behind this.... yes its a great pr move for the whole conglomerate for a while but with all due respect to Demna he won't turn into Michele / Phoebe Philo... are they aware of this? was he hired for shock factor that doesnt guarantee great numbers? or do they think otherwise? genuinely curious because this appointment is tragic for the gucci we know and love and also anticipate to love in future
