I'm a sucker for Dries so I love about everything in this collection. It feels effortless and kept to minimal which is what Dries is all about anyway. And the way those Japanese gardens inspired flower prints dissolve is just devine.
I have a weakness for all things shinny so that's automatically a favorite
Aside from that, I find this just really hard to get into, I'm all for volumes, especially when he does them but this is just too wide and kind of unremarkable, especially at the beginning, not to mention I've grown really really.. immune to his silky florals. Oh well, here's for a happier F/W 11.12.
Hi guys.
Here is a (little) video (available in HD) that I've made just for you a few hours ago during Dries Van Noten show, it's really short because I wanted to take pictures..
Shoes and shirts are gorgeous, but I am not really liking jeans parts. The bags were really looking bad when you see them close(They are glowing in the cheap way). I don't know is it a material or what. Also, I didn't like so many white pieces, I miss Dries in prints. What I like is that one piece had some parts printed and some parts not. That was a great idea! What I also like is this:
And this blazer
And this long jacket/cardigan:
I just hate this bags!Sorry Dries. Please no more this kind of stuff next season.
i don't know if this is the right expression, but this collection doesn't seem to be balanced. there are lots of looks that i loved, but some of those were just ugly/unnecessary/badly matched.
last season, i felt that dries van noten had shackled himself a little too closely to trend, but this season, he's riding that relationship like a pro. while he gave his clear nod with those opening looks, the most breathtaking portion of this show came in those blushing soft colors he imbued in everything from those trademark dries van noten prints to those must-have shirts. these whisper thin shirts serve as the perfect palette cleanser -- fashion's own sorbet -- for everything from statement pants at jil sander to those heady skirts from proenza schouler.
Oh, this is wonderful. The first few looks remind me S/S 04 which is such a pleasant surprise, because that remains one of my favourite Dries collection. The styling is beautiful, as always. What a great start to Paris.
i absolutely love all the minimal Japanese inspired flowers, very minimal and very nice. The sequins are my favorite part of the collection. Some of the shoes with floral print were nice as well. Not really an outstanding collection, but nice nonetheless
Easily forgettable are the two words that come to mind for this collection. Most of it looks like an extension of something he has worked on in past collections. Nothing new and nothing exciting.
Besides, nothing will beat his SS 09 collection for me. It was the perfect combination between old-school Dries and modern Dries, no?
I'm not a huge fan of DVN but this collection is cool. It's very chic and fresh looking with the florals and lovely colours. Perfect for women to wear on the weekends.
Dries has always been one of my top 3 designers and he didn't let my hopes down this time either. Such a gorgeous collection.. He's a really talented guy!!
