Elegant Gothic Lolita

I quite liked Kamikaze girls, and the parallel between the world the Lolita caracter dreams about and her rural reality makes for some hilarious moments...

I have been in LOVE with the lolita style for a couple years. I really like it. After looking at this thread I feel an impulse to buy some clothes. LOL

:)

I find this really weird.. :ninja:

I don't think I 'get' it.

uhh...me too.

I like period-inspired things I have seen in this thread, but I don't get the big picture. It seems like living life in costume? I don't know. Oh well.

Mmm, I adore EGL, though more of just liking the style as opposed actually dressing in full costume. And yes, in a way it is a costume people don. I'm pretty sure it's not a lifestyle which people surround themselves in gothic lolita costume day and night. People just enjoy dressing up in the gothic lolita outfits, they're not really living as it.

I adore EGL, but I cant bare myself to dress up from head to toe EGL.... It is weird to walk on the street and get stare in every single minute
I usually wear the set (jacket+skirt) seperately

EGL is one of those things I love to look at, but I wouldn't do myself. It does kind of feel like a costume.. but I've always loved incorporating more subtle hints of different styles into my wardrobe.

Does EGL get better than this.. ...

I have a pink lolita coat! Its got a bow at the front of the neck and a huge tie-up bow on the back with lace heart pockets and lace trim. Its very cutesy pie

Could you please post a photo of your coat?THANX!!!!

I love this style so much i love the whole egl, and the resistnace looks not such a big fan of sweet gothic lolita. I just love this whole look its so beautiful and the effort these girls go too must be emense.
I love this whole look ive been a big fan of it for years im so glad it hasnt hit the mainstream outside japan, as i can imagine western girls would just ruin this look, all though some could probally pull it off.

Ive got lots of back copies of egl magazine but cant seem to track down any newer ones. any one had any luck ??

i like gothic lolita as well, but i prefer the type that's not sweet.
not sure which catergory it falls under but it's those slightly 'darker' outfits, pale face, black nails, and dark eyeliner

Heh, I looked at the website for kamikaze girls and I thought it was funny that both of the main characters had names that were fruits...
Anyways, my two cents on this is that I really like EGL when I first found out about it a few years ago (well, maybe like 5!) My sister and I used to try our best and imitate EGL style when we were younger but Im so over it now. Its become trendy and cool, just like everything associated with Japan, and I'm kind of sick of it haha. I only wish I didnt know and love Japanese culture and language as much as I do, because I get associated with all sorts of weird people...

Kyoko Fukada looked darn cute in Kamikaze Girls. I think she's the perfect model for this type of fashion :flower:

Anyone who likes this style may like to know that h & m has gorgeous umberellas in this style. They are black and white polkadot, they are in the shape of a victorian parasoll, with frills around they edge. So cute, even have a leather handel .. so cute i love myn and it was only £5
