She's planning on doing an album at some point soon. She said that it will be contemporary, but with her own unique style. She said her influences will probably range from Whitney Houston to Sarah McLaughlin. Here's a quote:
"I don't want to be a pop princess by any means. I'm not interested in doing bubble gum (music). I am interested in recording an album because it would be an opportunity to express the feelings I have inside, not playing a character. I just think I have this thing inside me, this need to create and to express feelings whether that's in film (which is my favorite way of doing it because it's so intimate), or in music which is an emotional expression as well." and "I would want to do something in the popular vein only because I worked so hard on something and put my heart and soul into it, and I want people to like it and hear it. I also kind of would want to use the range that I have naturally, something which I think Whitney Houston does really well and Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Evanessence, Sarah McLaughlin, or R. Kelly. Anyone that's got great passion and a great voice and something real to say is who I get inspiration from."
She is currently in LA filming "Posidon" with Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfus, and Josh Lucas and directed by Wolfgang Peterson. It's loosely based on the disaster epic "The Posidon Adventure"- it has the same premise, but the characters and situations are different. The premise is that a cruise ship (the Posidon) capsizes on New Year's Eve and a the survivors must climb up through the ship (which is now upside-down) and get to the top where they can be rescued. IMO the original had a good premise but not much was done with it. This has potential to do more with the premise. Emmy plays a character named "Jennifer Ramsey" who is on the cruise with her father and her fiance. there is no similar character in the original. It set to come out in May 2006
She's said that she wants to go back to doing some smaller films next:
-" I'm looking at a movie right now that's much smaller. If feel like I've come off a lot of big Hollywood blockbusters and this is about drug addiction. But I don't want to talk too much about that because I'm superstitious and I think I'll jinx it."
-“I found a movie I’m very interested in about drug addiction, but I also found a book about female athletes,” she explains. “It’s a really strong girl who was overcome a lot of obstacles in her life, prejudice and adversity, and that’s something that I’m interested in as well.”
Here's what she said about her future career choices in general:
-"As an actress I want to keep working, I want to keep learning and working with the great people that I get to work with all the time, and I also really like the freedom of expression within music, because you're not playing a character, you're really expressing who you are when you sing your own music. But in terms of career, I really admire Nicole Kidman because she's just incredibly talented as an actress, and beautiful, and I think she has a great diversity within her career - she can do really small movies that she really believes in and labours of love, and then such big Hollywood movies. And I think that's why I make movies, because I want people to go out and have a really good time and escape for two hours."
