Erin Fetherston For Target

i just checked out the collection as well... i was very excited to see most of the key pieces available, but ended up leaving kind of disappointed. the silky jumper and rounded collar dresses were beautiful but looked so delicate that i felt as though i might break seams in the dressing room.:( i still intend to check out the creme long sleeved dress, as i think it might work on me. it was just so much of a zoo today that i wanted to get in and get out.

they had both of the coats - the cocoon coat was nice but i ultimately found the color impractical for me, and it seemed super long (i'm only 5'2"). i tried on the black coat (which i was convinced i'd be buying) and while it seemed true to size, the fit was so strange on me. kind of tight around the arms/shoulders and really billowy around the waist. plus, being short, the waist didn't seem to be in the right place. it was very cute on the hanger though, and i imagine it would look great on a shorter person with different proportions.

one funny thing, it was quite busy at my Target today and a lot of people were walking past the Fetherston display, looking kind of bewildered (this makes me think i'll be able to snag a lot of these pieces for a discount later  ). there was one couple in particular touching the pieces and trying to figure out the collection, and i heard him say, "OH!! i think it's maternity." i almost LOLed. i guess that was kind of how i felt looking in the mirror while trying on the Fetherston stuff.:cry: i can see the collection looking beautiful on someone else though.

When I was at Target checking out the collection these two Southern women walked up and started making fun of it. I heard them say things like "who would wear this?" and "is this in style now, I would never wear this?" Whatever I thought it was a good collection.

has anyone used the "Find it in a store" feature on the website and then gone to the store and they don't have any? That happened to my mom yesterday (she was looking for me). The site said it was in the store and she went and nothing.

the site hardly has any stock and it was just released online? is it already sold out? :(

i ordered the white coat, black ruffle dress and white chiffon/velvet bib dress. wish i was in the states so i could see everything in person!

^ most of it hasn't shown up on the site yet - i believe tomorrow is the official 'release date'.... a lot of the stores are just putting the collection out early. :flower:

thanks :) it's already the 18th down under so i got a bit over-excited hehe

Those spring '07 dresses are absolutely stunning...so floaty and airy. Feminine. Clean. Minimal. This should be a really interesting collaboration. I'm actually looking forward to this one...

ah! esile!!! nice to see you on here! haven't seen you in a while posting....maybe i'll give that bunny print a try.....rabbits just kinda freak me out....childood trauma....

yeah, i've been busy. not posting much, but always reading.
definitely, give the killer bunny a try.;)

so, i wore the black coat today. i got a few compliments. the heart on the back and the front pockets really blends in with the coat. it's not really in your face. the cut is really nice and flattering.

i haven't seen the cocoon coat yet irl. hopefully my local target will get it when the collection is officially released.

I went to my local store yesterday and I initially thought I wouldn't like any of this but I ended up getting the black coat with the heart pockets, the grey cardy, and the black shirt with the red buttons. No heart purse though.

The coats are definitely the highlight of the collection. I don't think this will rank as one of the best-selling GO collections.

Wait, H and M is actually available for purchase online??? I had no idea! Is this just in the US or in France, too??

This is interesting, she just established herself at the NY shows. I don't know how much of a draw this is going to bring to her and Target. I mean most of us don't know who she is yet.

Maybe Target is differentiating themselves from H&M by using lesser known, or more appropriately, smaller designer houses?

I think this is exactly what they're doing...and perhaps emphasizing the design and not the name. Great tactic if the design house is actually really talented...

i went back yesterday and still nothing, :( i had to get a 'thanksgiving dinner' dress at the last moment so picked up one of the alice temperly dresses on clearance. good to know the collections online now though, and thank you everyone for your wonderful reviews!!! now off to target.com....

I went to my local Target yesterday and the EF line was out! There was a lot left but there were no accessories. (I'm really curious to see the heart bags even though I have no interest in purchasing them.) I tried on a few of the key pieces but I didn't have enough time to try on everything that interested me.

I tried on the coats and I decided to pass on the black coat. I thought that I could deal with the hearts, but I didn't like the heart on the black. It is true to size, but I had the same experience as ragtag (tight on the arms/shoulders but tent-like around the waist). I'm also busty and I felt like my chest wasn't in the right place.

The beige cocoon coat is adorable and it's surprisingly well made. I tried on the coat in Medium and Large. The Large fit but it was quite big on me while the Medium was more fitted and thus looked better on me. Now I regret ordering the coat in Large and it looks like I'm going to have to exchange it when it arrives. It is a little long for my taste (I'm 5'3) but I can deal with it; the coat hit me around the knee and it's the same for the models. I think the coats will be the must-haves in this collection!

I also tried on the red silk dress, the purple-tiered dress and the antique white chiffon with velvet dress. I really liked the chiffon with velvet dress. It's soft and feminine. The material isn't the best but what do you expect at that price point? The red silk dress looked great on the hanger but it felt a little fragile as I was trying it on. I can see that and the red silk jumper getting ripped at the seams very easily. I loved the purple-tiered dress in the ads and on the hangers, but it looked horrible on me. I'm quite curvy and it made me look like I had no curves whatsoever! Unfortunately, the material could have been better. :( I would recommend sizing up for all the dresses I tried on, especially if you're curvy/busty.

I wanted to try on the red silk jumper and the bunny dress but they didn't have my size left. I'm scared of bunnies too but the print is adorable!

I really want the scarves, the bunny dress, the chiffon with velvet dress, the thermals, the cardigans and the swiss dot ribbon tops. I'm sure there are others. I might have to try them on or wait for more reviews before I buy the majority of the other stuff. ^_^

Thanks again for the reviews everyone! :flower:

i too have to echo the reviews on the coats. i tried on many of the items today and the coats really stood out for me...very well made and nice material. i didn't get the black coat because i couldn't deal with that heart on the back, but i did get the cream coat, which i thought i was going to pass on originally. it's beautifully cut, although because i like my coats on the narrow side i had to size down to the XS when i usually wear a S in coats. i also picked up the black peter pan collar dress. the material is fine, a bit softer than i expected for polyester. at first i thought it was too prim of a style, but then i rolled up the sleeves and undid the top few buttons of the front and liked it much better. i like that i can probably wear it over leggings, skinny jeans or with tights and i think it could be styled in many different ways...however, it is cut very narrowly in the shoulders and around the arms, so it is a little hard to pull on. if you are at all busty (like over a B cup) you will probably have to size up a little. (although i don't think this is a very bust-friendly sort of line at all!)

i also tried on the grey sweater with the heart buttons. it's super-soft and very cute but i had the hardest times with the buttons so i just gave up. i also tried on the ruffle tier dress in black. the material isn't super-amazing, but it is not bad, not as cheap as it could be. it is softer than i thought it'd be. however i found that i am too petite yet too broad-shouldered to carry it off...i think this style really does work best if you are skinny in the chest and arms and perhaps on the lankier side, and it's not a dress that you can adjust by hemming or anything to change the proportion. i'd definitely try it on...

I found this pic on Flickr. Is this coat warm enough for really cold temperatures?

^ yes it's super warm. i wore it last night and felt it was a little hot for about 67 degrees

oh wow! these pics and reviews are great! i have the black coat in my shopping cart but am a lil wary of ordering anything else because i find it's often hit or miss with the sizes in these collections...i'm going to beg my BF to go there tonite i think...i hope it's out!
