Fashion Tragedies / Damage Control

I have a favorite black cotton shirt that I stupidly wore while bleaching the sink... now it has bleach stains.

I still wear it when I want the "stained look" but if anyone knows a way to dye over the bleached spots, I would love to hear it.

The shirt is kind of faded so I don't really think it will ever look right... yeah maybe this belongs in fashion tragedies.

tangerine darling...

a stylist trick is to just take a black sharpie marker and colour in the spots...
it might wash out...but then you just do it again...
cheap, quick and easy fix....:flower:

;)

soft, that is so funny, I always try to fix everything with sharpie and/or duct tape... but I figured that was just the "typical guy approach" and there must be a better way.

got sharpie? you bet I do!

Thanks!

haha..no...girls are a mess too...
half my pants are hemmed with pins and two-sided tape...
i usually get around to really hemming them eventually...
:innocent:...

duct tape and sharpie:rofl:
too true too true...

god that is funny.

but I was thinking, this is a bit of a pain, but, if the shirt is black, and you want to go through the trouble, what if you dye the tshirt with brown dye, or any color really, and then it would have colored splotches (yep. a splotch. In Poland I think people eat those the next day to cure hangovers:lol:) instead of bleach splotches. mmmm, sounds tasty.

goose, as a matter of fact the spots are kind of rust colored, and I pair the black shirt with any pants and shoes that complement the rust color... so I think your idea is a good one!

and, now that the weekend is here, thanks for reminding me to pick up some splotches for the morning after... blintzes and splotches cure everything!

Pom poms are sweet - but I think applying pom poms might limit the uses of your scarf. If it was my scarf I'd sew on some little beads around the hole..maybe add a little bit of grey lace ? :flower:

^ Btw, believe part of the mission of "Fashion Tragedies" is tragedy mitigation :D

Scarves with pompoms are very now, so I say yes ... I think pompoms are always in in your world :D but you could always clip them off later & take another approach :flower:

ok...
can we call the merged thread fashion tragedies/damage controlthen...?...:flower:...

i am torn about the pom poms myself for the exact reason you said hanne...
and drawn to them for the exact reason YOU said ta-ta...
i might give it a try and see how it goes...
the things are already made so i just have to tack them on...
i need more opinions...:ermm:...

i was considering something like you suggested hanne...
not beads so much...i'm not big on beads or shiny stuff unless it's metal or leather...:ninja:...but i was thinking some blk chiffon or something lacey...

i saved another cashmere scarf from the moths in a similar way...
i'll post a pic later so you guys can see what i mean...
so i wanted to so something different this time...
i hate doing anything twice...it's a personal quirk...
^_^...

I could use some help...
I have a white & blue floral silk tank that is stained under the arms...I guess I shouldn't have worn it on 90 degree days  The stain is darker than the rest of the tank. Is there anything I can do? I was thinking of dying it, but since it's silk I won't be able to throw it in the washing machine, right?
Any suggestions are much appreciated :flower:

Softgrey, as far as your scarf, I like the lace idea ... also very now ... and I don't think I've ever seen a cashmere and lace scarf. Care to use one of your doilies? ;) :D

holy crap ta-ta!!!...

:o...that's a BRILLIANT idea...
and someone recently sent me some purple dye!!!!......:buzz:...
purple and grey are GORGEOUS together....!!

that could look amazing...
can i add black ribbon too?!?!????...:bounce:...

the only thing you can do is dye it a darker colour...
you can dye it by hand and if it's silk it should take the dye well and come out pretty well i think...

what colour were you thinking?...:flower:

Oh Yay!! Problem solved ^_^ Good team work!!

Regarding the silk tank, I'm curious of the color too. And how will dyeing affect the flower patterns? Do patterns remain when you dye? I'm a dyeing novice  Either way you can't ruin it by giving it a shot  That's what I tell myself about the couple of pieces I'm trying to salvage!

You're most welcome, darling ;)

Yes, ribbon sounds nice ... either black or you could try dyeing some too ... and you know what I've been really liking with ribbon lately ... and this is practically borrowing an idea from Satan himself   ... but have you seen the stuff Juicy Couture's new designer is doing?? The frayed like prize ribbons? I like those ...

I'd post a pic of the tank except that it's at my parent's house (along with a ton of other clothes I have no room for at my apartment :innocent: )
I was thinking since it's white/blue (some of the flowers have a bit of pink) I should stick with something in the blue family? or maybe purple? Not sure...I'm open to suggestions. I'll post before and after pics when I'm done

Curious- I'm not sure what happens to the print either. I've never dyed printed fabric before. I hope the floral pattern is still noticable. I guess we'll see! :D

Cool! Already looking forward to after shots  I was thinking purple would be nice too. And if the flowers still show in a lighter shade, I think it would be really pretty :flower:

i agree..go for purple...
the flowers should still show ...the print sill just be more muted...

ok...i think i was delirious when i was thinking about dying my doilies purple...
i have now come to my senses...
i have selected 2 doilies that i think look good together and with the scarf...
now what?......i'm thinking on making some sort of ruffle...
and still adding some blk ribbon maybe...

*ta-ta..i know what you mean...i like those things too...
i actually haven't seen the juicy stuff...
but many other designers were doing it...
i sort of made a flower out of a doily last night and used some blk ribbon in the centre like that...unfortunately...it is HIDEOUS...:ninja:...

....man...i was not having a good moment yesterday it seeems...:(
