I`m a natural blonde + bleached it for about 10 years. 3 month ago I had my hair dyed brunette (at a Hair Salon and it was not cheap!)...now the (supposed permanent!) haircolour has almost completly washed out!

Since I hate that "washed-out" light-brown (which looks like blonde in the sun) I am -AGAIN- faced with the question: blonde or brunette? (and no, I will -NO WAY- go for the red that will be trendy in winter!)

Since going brunette is/was a huge trend I wonder how the other people that did it feel about their "new brunette" now? How did the new haircolour affect your life?

I got many compliments and EVERYBODY liked it better than the blonde because they all said "it framed my face more beautieful". Still the change didn`t really meet my expectations...now I consider going back to bleach-blonde again because let`s face it: everybody can go brunette but not everybody can -REALLY- afford to go blonde! It may be a little "kitsch" but at least it`s not so common!

I went from blonde to brunette and I love it! I got so many compliments saying it made my skin glow! Like you said, not many people can really "go blonde" but many attempt anyway, and look awful. However, I don't know about your hair, but mine gets bleached out in the sun rather quickly, and with summer approaching you might want to take that into consideration

I think a deeper hair color does wonders for the complexion. I prefer my hair darker there's more contrast between my hair and my skin. Plus it makes your eyes pop.

Ive been blonde for many years and brunette also. When I was younger the brunette looked stunning but always needed make-up to really bring the look to life for me. Blonde is expensive, time consuming (Im naturally brunette) but seems to always be the colour I return to. I know too well the problem you are talking about with the fading of the colour. The trick with brunette is that it must stay rich in colour to keep it alive and personally I had found that after tinting hair blonde, the colour shaft is poros and open so of course colour washes out as quickly as it goes in. Even natural blonde hair will fade with brunette shades in time. Have you tried using a rinse like Live colour once a fortnight and a brunette shampoo while you are building up the colour over the hair shaft? Its a bit time consuming but you will find that your hair will not fade so much, begin to build in colour intensity and condition? I agree be careful of red. Its fantastic while you like it but if you want to go blonde again or cool brown or ash it is the biggest headache to get rid of.

Yes, Yes, Yes!! Love, love, love my brunette! For me, it really brightens up my complexion and brings out my blue eyes. Don't regret it a bit.

I do have to get touch-ups every 5 weeks now instead of seven, so the maintenance is more frequest and it's slightly more expensive for that reason. It does lighten up, but every few sessions, my hairdresser will run the color through my entire head again rather than just the roots to bring back the richness

for a long time i was blonde then one day i went brunette and for a while when i still had my tan i liked it but once it was gone i just looked washed out and so common. so i changed to red... big big mistake it was too red for me so i went back to dark brown which doesn t look nice at all with my green eyes no matter what i read in mags. and then the first day of spring i went to the salon and went all the way back to blonde it was shocking but i loved it, it was more blonde than i ever had but i felt better about myself right away. and now i get compliments all the time and that my friends does keep my spirit up :D

im a natural blonde as well, and been staying a brunette for almost 3-4 yrs now. i tough it up every 5 weeks, and only in summer i do anything like adding highlights to it etc.

I love it, i do get so many compliments, like 'that_cali_girl' about it making my eyes stand out, since they are blue.

i say go brown, and dont let it fade! keep it rich and dark! use good colour shampoo etc. once you keep staying brown, it wont fade as much.
