GAP - what are your opinions??

I work there, their basics are quite good (And I get £5 shoes etc). The womenswear is something I'd give to my mum.

GAP is just another nightmare for me...these annoying posh girls wear in here and they all have the same sweatshirt which is horrible, and they think it is so great to have one and wear them with pride and all.Their clothes suck and i would never spend money on its products:unsure:

OMG I remember a time when EVERYONE had a hoodie with a big GAP on the front...ew

When I was younger I would shop at GAP Kids because they had decent clothes that I could find in my size...Then I got to a weird stage where I was too big for the kids stuff and too small for the adult stuff...so it turned me off for a while...now I use it for basics but rarely...their quality is not worth the price they put out.

The only reason why I shop at Banana Republic is because they have petites. But now, their sizes have gotten too big! Is it really possible to be too small to wear 0P? I live in Canada, so I can't order online and get 00P.

It's weird because I've lost weight but now Gap clothes dont fit me well at all.

When I was heavier I would wear a 36 waist from Gap for Banana Republic. Ive lost about 30 pounds, and every other line Ive gone down in sizes. With these two.........I've had to go up to a 38 to get a good fit.

I dont get it...................the only thing I can think of is that they have tailored the clothes for men to fit more snug now, so every thing is shrinking.

yup. I got one pair and want more now. it's great bargain and the quality is alright, too ^_^

Great place for overpriced-sweatshop constructed basics.

Love their advertisements though.

How do they fit?
in my honest opinion...
the fit is AWFUL...they look ok from the front...
but if you turn around there is this horrible bunching under your butt and around the back of the thighs...
plus the sizing is inconsistent-(a STRONG indicator of poor quality)

i actually bought the pants in grey but i am taking them back today because i would rather spend three-four times the amount of money to get the right fit...
totally worth the extra $$ imo...
it's just never a good idea to buy cheap pants...

* sorry caffeine- i know you are really happy with them...
but i cannot stand them...i think they are super unflattering in that back area...:ninja:

So sorry softgrey that you didn't like the pants. I actually am quite pleased with them. I bought 2 pairs of the black Audrey capris, but as I am so short, they are a perfect length on me so no alterations are needed. I usually don't like the Gap, and would rather pay more money for quality, but I was intrigued with these pants and decided to go to the Gap to try them out. The sizing is a little small, so I went up one size, but for $48US, I liked them. I think it is going to be very hit or miss with these pants, but I think they are at least worth checking out. Just my opinion.

I think that over the years, GAP has gone down hill where as Old Navy has gone up hill. Old Navy > GAP

The only reason Old Navy has gotten bigger is because of their STUPID commercials and because America is obsessed with cheap clothing... Old Navy's in particular... capris, flip-flops, and ill-fitting cotton tees.

I know there are many fans of Audrey Hepburn, but i don't know how many people are going to be wearing pants that resemble highwater pants. ^_^

I can only buy some shirts from the gap....their pants just don't fit right on me.

gap has some nice things (i'm US, i don't know if the collections are the same) but the material seems cheap to me

Gap mens pants stitching seems to loosen in time, not worth purchasing. However, I've been lucky so far with Gap's men premium fitted shirts. Other then that, I really don't shop the Gap unless they have a huge sale.

i generally shop at both GAP and Old Navy just for the basics, but you CAN find cute stuff otherwise. however, you have to follow the one important rule when shopping at a gap inc store:

if youre a woman shop in kids
if youre a man shop in women

generally being on my college student budget, i like to spend as little possible on my basics, so gap and old navy are good for that. if i want "trendier clothing" i go to hm or zara.

...for bags and shoes though i like to save up for designer stuff :ermm:

I just found out that Gap also owns Bananna Republic and Old Navy.

Obviously GAP is supposed to be the mid-range between the two.

I am surprised and dismayed although I don't know why. Wondering what others think of stuff like that. I assume some other stores are the same way too.

Gap stuff doesn't really fit me too, and I never really find anythinng over there, but my Husband likes that one style of jeans
