Right before the show debuted the american footballer aaron donald posted a pic of himself in a givenchy separate. guys like him don't do any IG posts unless it's paid. Clearly this is who Givenchy wants their customer to be.

LVMH is experienced enough to know the only reason Givenchy logo sells is if the runway is a spectacle of 'high fashion' which is exactly what we see here. Expect a bunch of "influencers" (Kylie Jenner) to wear samples of this stuff but none of it will be produced and Saks will only get logo cotton separates and like 2 highly edited runway looks.

I dont mind logos like other people tho. they have their place in every fashionistas wardrobe.

I’ve been thinking about it—what should they [LVMH] do for a house like Givenchy in this era? A more couture-oriented approach like Clare’s didn’t work. Now they’re trying a Riccardo redux and it’s not working either. Seems like out of the recent gambles of LVMH, only Kim Jones and MGC at least profit-wise is working. Fashion generally feels uninspired right now that other than commerciality there’s no target.

Find someone talented who has a vision. That’s all...
Givenchy before Riccardo did not have that unified vision. A designer who is good in menswear and womenswear is quite rare. Clare was capable but she did not have the vision.

Logo pieces are entry-priced items for people who wants to enter the world of Givenchy with something familiar buy during Riccardo’s time, they produced and sold the runway collections. And Givenchy was also less expensive than Dior for example.

Maybe LVMH should try the Kering approach and sometimes give chances to the numbers 2 of the studios. The success of Daniel Lee should be a wake-up call for them. Fendi and Givenchy had very capable studios!

LVMH has a big problem on their hands because a lot of their top designers have been accused of copying other designers and/or being lazy and unoriginal in general. Look at Virgil, who must recently copied Walter van Beirendonck. Look at Hedi at Celine. And of course Mr. Williams aka. Riccardo Tisci lite.

I have to say Kering, at the moment, has a much better assortment of designers, and their brands truly stand apart from one another. The brands at LVMH, particularly in terms of menswear, are beginning to look far too similar to each other.

(BTW, Benjamin hardly seemed oppressed and marginalized; he was a cool kid partying with the in-crowd at night and hanging with the rich and the beautiful during the day at work. And furthermore, so what if this guy did rip off Benjamin??? …Besides the designs being 3 decades apart, no one designer has a right over any design and if anyone thinks they do, then they need to get real and check their overinflated ego. I’d be ROTFL if I were all the designers this guy ripped off since his versions always ends up looking a cheap knockoff version. He’s just awfully boring and so uncreative.
