Gucci F/W 04.05 Milan

I think I would actually pay the money for a 1 hour pass at Firstview to see big photos of this collection

at times wasn't even good.

In all honestly, I was so sick of this typical Gucci woman he threw in our faces each season and I think it's so out of sync with the direction that fashion is moving right now. No one wants to hear about this drugged-up, oversexed, rock-n-roll b*tch and I, for one, don't even think she exists.
I knwo so true, tom ford is so out of snyn with what fashion is about now, btu ig euss tehre all ways will eb people who whant that image, wich is why peopel still liek him. Its all to harsh and valgure for my taste.

Loved it. Tom Ford is truly a master. Fashion can be many things, including art--either legitimately or by pretense, but it all boils down to making a person (in this case the Gucci woman) look fabulous. On the runway, in SoHo or walking along the Finale Ligure coast, she's in good hands with this Fall 04 collection.

My desire: An announcement that PPR says, "He ain't going nowhere." Or let him make a movie that puts most of the current tripe to shame.

Back to this collection, the colors, line and fabrics are the stuffs of luxury and style. Bravo, Mr. Ford. Bravo. I'll have much more to say about this as it sinks in and I'm not going to end that sentence in a preposition.

I really like it but it does seem like to be a bit of a rehash of his past few collections: ribbon detailing, corsets, gypsy look. Like that lilac dress Liya was wearing it - it looked like his gypsy collection mixed with his last AW03 collection (the one with Dewi and the baby in the ads) died in purple). I guess it's good that he's stuck to what he's best at though.

A designer should never have to be "in sync" with whats going on in the rest of the fashion world. Every designer has their own aesthetic and you have to respect that at least...not necessarily what they do....but that they are an individual who has a certain vision.

Well of course that's true. However, Gucci is definitely one of the trend-setting labels. It's not anti-fashion like Comme des Garcons or Ann Demeulemeester, for example. So one expects Gucci to be sensitive to a new direction in fashion that has a penchant for softness, mysticism, and an evocation of something other-wordly.

The hardness and vulgarity of a Gucci collection is definitely out of sync right now. Recent collections by Miuccia Prada, Raf Simons, and Junya Watanabe show the way forward. This Gucci show is ok but in all honesty I'm glad to see this end.
