Gucci Mens S/S 2016 Milan

Won't someone post some of the pieces in the most hideous dress thread? Some of the pieces are dresses.

One of the things that irks me the most about Michele's take on Gucci, aside from the utter lack of originality, is how studied it all comes across. It reads as very, very try-hard to me, very considered and, as a result of how deliberately un-studied it's meant to look, pretentious. The only thing more pretentious than looking like you're trying too hard is looking like you tried to look like you didn't try too hard.

And honestly, while the notion of bending gender doesn't bother me, I would hope that any man who would choose to do so would have the good sense not to zero in on some of the most cliched "girly" elements known to fashion.

The green silk robe is nice, if a little Tom Ford in tone.

I'm in a minority here but I am loving the new Gucci, Alessandro Michele has such a strong singular vision, which I just find utterly compelling, it is similar to his last collection because he is obviously defining what his Gucci is. Sure it is not to everyone's taste, but that’s the point, Gucci needs to find a new customer and appealing to everyone, appeals to no-one. Pick apart the pieces and this is a highly desirable and marketable collection, I’m saying it’s definitely going to sell ^Alessandro Michele’s designs haven’t yet hit stores so we won’t find out any figures on his impact for months.
Overall a great collection, not a fan of the the big motifs everywhere though.

That is messy! I applaud his campaign, but the collection itself is just messy and undesirable. I have zero interest here and if you want to do floral, Dolce & Gabbana done it better. Floral at Dolce & Gabbana looks very dandy and masculine, meanwhile Gucci is just too cutesy and dated.

You can only do lace for men for so long. He needs something else.

Well, his last few collections were tragic and completly un-focused on the attitude of Gucci (he has gone for eclectic pieces and it's not the best thing when you're new to the house and haven't had any iconic pieces yet) but this one is a good step IMO. I don't like some pieces, but I would wear things from this collection. Weird.

He has such conviction to push this image he's cultivated over the past few months that I wasn't so sure about at first but I'm falling for it. There are still pieces that will appeal to everybody and when they end up in the shops (pants hemmed properly and some frilly collars here and there possibly removed or made removable) I can see it selling out  there's pieces for everyone here. I'm still not sold on the pussybows for men and a few of the crocheted and lace pieces are a bit much for me but who knows, there's a market out there for them somewhere. Only complaint I had was that he closed with a woman's look. I'm all for including ladies pieces in men's shows (and I think it definitely helps sell a vision, like at Prada) but if it's a menswear show maybe have it close with a men's look.

^He closed his f/w 15.16 women's show with a boy

This is so weird but no denying it is interesting and has generated a lot of buzz. I am curious to see how the sales are for this.

It would not hurt for him to put out some nice shirts though, some of the suits were nice but pairing them with pie crust blouses is looool. I like the eye glasses the best and bags.

Watching this and then watching a Gucci by Tom Ford show makes me want to cry.

I mean I think it's cute and all and I might even like it if it wasn't Gucci, he's just destroying the brand.
