Gucci S/S 2024 Milan

I don’t hate it, I think it’s ok for a young customer and may sell pretty well. But the absolute gall to hype this up the way they did? Imagine releasing this statement, in reference to that collection!

Agree with a lot of people. Love him or hate him, Alessandro had a strong vision and identity from head to toe; obviously same for Tom Ford.

This felt.... I wouldn't even say Zara. I'm sure he will fall into a vision at some point but right now, no. The hype did not deliver.

this will sell really well for sure. its very safe and probably what the higher ups wanted. Guess he is making tailored jackets and mini shorts a thing and i hope he is able to evolve from this as theres some potential here and there. What ruined the collection was the massive amount of promo beforehand, it was really not needed and goes against the direction of the collection.

This was so sad, H&M had better ideas and designs. No soul, no creativity, no identity, no uniqueness. Basic boring clothes with "gucci" on them, what a shame.
He has years of experience and this what you came up with? for GUCCI? horrendous!
I'm so mad about this lol

This is what you get when you put an already impossible brief in the hands of a designer who so far has never been in charge of a fashion house, let alone one of this size.

Despite everything, I understand the criteria that merited Demna's appointment at Balenciaga. Vetements dominated the conversation in certain areas of fashion, there is no doubt he had something to say. From the first collection it was clear where he would take this brand... This by comparison lacks distinction. It's just stuff...

I see this as a welcome palate cleanser after the Michele years. Like some have mentioned above, maybe Gucci is simply taking the Dior route - focusing squarely on merchandise, rather than creating any kind of impact or excitement through great design.

It’s… very, very Valentino, and I think he “took” one of the huge lapel short coat/blazer to Gucci and sent it down the runway

He is menswear designer, half of clothes have bad proportion on waist. That dress is joke and someone in the studio should told that is not good an idea:

The main question - where is it bag. They had a lot of time and no interesting proposition in this area. Of course, only old bags in fad version.

I think so too. I like it more upon reflection than I initially did. Not a single look stops me in my tracks but there are many pieces I think are desirable and wearable for a wide variety of customers (even if they’re styled in a Gen-Z-friendly way on the runway) and I’ll be very curious to see what the campaign ends up looking like.

re: bags… maybe they’re just going to continue to push the Jackie really hard, hoping to cement its status as a perennial it-bag? They can just keep jacking up the price. That seems to be the name of the game.

Terrible! Looks like a Versace dress from 2007, but bad.

I'm vibing to this soundtrack for hours today y'all !

This collection had nothing: POV, character, construction, desirable accessories, wow effect, temperature. It was merchensing derived from the past. If that's what kind of "ancora" he wants to give us then I'm calling loud and wide: FRIDA, COME BACK!

It's not entirely terrible, there are some cute pieces here and there throughout the collection. The biggest challenge for Sabato is to develop a really strong identity for Gucci because when I look at this it's just clothes that will blend in perfectly into people's wardrobe without making any statement.
He needs to show us more of his taste and make more mistakes. I rather have someone with bad taste than no taste at all.

The only fabulous thing about this show is the soundtrack. I need that remix of Mina to be available now.

And the most important thing, can we go back with Suzanne Koller styling the show, please? She is the reason why the studio collection was so much fun. McKimn thank you, next.

"De Sarno has wiped the slate clean, now he can begin building."

It's clear from reading the reviews and pieces on the show hat Sabato was given the task of creating a palate cleanser collection that breaks with the immediate past. This is exactly what this collection is. You can tell by the amount of classic bags and shoes that they were trying to reinforce the codes of the house.

Show #2 will be where the pressure is really on. He has until January (for menswear?) to really prove himself and create some sort of discernible signature...
