Neither, really. It definitely doesn't earn me any money, but I don't drive myself into debt for a new handbag or dress. It does make me very frustrated, though. All those amazing clothes, shoes, bags, and I've got to pick and choose so few of them!

there are some people who look fabulous with so little money. its all about fashion smarts and making your dollar stretch. and there are some who carry thousand dollar bags but are always complaining everything's is expensive and who also dont do their designer togs any justice.
for me, i fall somewhere in the middle. i hav a gd eye for clothes that flatter me, and i get lots of people asking me where i got my stuff from. so i've become a personal shopper for alot of friends and acquaintances (people i've bonded with becos of our common interest in clothes/shopping).
on the otherhand,i would never compromise food over fashion...i would spend alot of money on 10 course japanese kaiseki dinners 3 times a month, than YSL or gucci... hehe...satisfying my stomach and taste buds rank higher.

A bit of an up and down for me.... in actual fact, I'm very thrifty with my wardrobe because I keep things and never throw things away. Then there's the customisation and DIY stuff that keeps my bank balance in check.

Before I started working I'd have to say poor. My mom and I would use the credit card to spend spend spend! but now that I work its harder for me to buy stuff because I worked hard for that money and also I have to save it to pay for school and insurance for my car. So the only times I could get something expensive or go on a shopping spree is on my birthday and during christmas. I love getting those gift cards and some money from my relatives!

Well said. For me fashion/design sits in my heart and not in my wardrobe or the amount of money I can afford to drop on a weekend bag. To be fashion is an interest and passion rather than a way of living.
Fashion has been known to make me poor. One minute I'll have $800, and the next I'll have $80. But it never makes me feel guilty. I see fashion as a good investment. I only buy things I will get a lot of use out of and keep for a long time. And I don't really care if the item I buy is $10 or $300: if I like it, I'm happy, regardless of the price.
well, hopefully it will make me rich haha. if not, just to pay my bills and live comfortably.
but for now...i dont make my own living so i cant say it's making me poor. but for someone who is in such close distance with fashion, i dont slurge or shop as much.

Well...I have made money by selling clothes I've found in second hand shops etc on Ebay a few times. I'm pretty careful with my money as I'm a student and I really, really don't want to find myself with massive debts in the future! So I don't buy designer period.
I hope that it won’t make me poor, LOL. Rich? I’m not sure if it would make me rich per se. I guess it depends on my opportunities in life. Would good fashion/clothing help? I think so. My partner wears nothing but t-shirts and REI hiking pants or shorts and Keens or Mephisto shoes most days of the year, but when he goes to a meeting (he works for himself at home) he’s in his Armani or Burberry suit and I think that makes a difference. A cheap suit would be a very bad idea!

I would say it's made me richer.
It's made me really think about what I'm putting my into and only buying pieces that actually mean something to my wardrobe rather than a million T-shirts and pairs of jeans.

It's definitely made me richer, if I had to choose from the two. No more impulse buying and spending, I buy only what I absolutely love and I know I'm going to get lots of wear out of. I invest in expensive pieces that I'll have forever and always use. Fashion has definitely made me more at ease, as well. I've got a curiously busy mind and fashion has helped me sort it all out through my clothes! Hahaha. So, richer for sure! Can't believe the money I've saved!
