This looks like it would be very nice to wear. I like this !

Stunning fabrics, clean and elegant cuts, it actually reminds me a lot of Lemaire's work.
I like the combo fur sweaters/Wang's way turtlenecks.
Would be even better with a slightly more daring styling, make-up and setting.

The point is that Lemaire's Hermes was a success but he had to leave to focus on his own brand. So they brought in a designer with the same philosophy and instincts. I don't think the idea was ever to shake things up.

You all can moan and whine but the reality is that the woman who's been shopping Hermes will find everything she needs and wants here. She's probably already been buying The Row and Lemaire to wear together.

And the real point of luxury is that you all can complain but it won't really matter, most of us are priced out of having a relevant opinion about it.

There is quiet luxury and there is quiet luxury.
Even brunello cucinelli and loro piana are quite different in terms of aesthetics.
Assuming understated are all the same is missing the point.
This is a very different outing from lemaire's debut, that alone speaks volumes.
And I don't think van hee is talentless, the row has showed excellent results. So, we'll see.

Simply beautiful. Or beautifully simple. I agree with those that think it's beyond fashion. Nadege is designing for a certain lifestyle.

I can see the daughter, the mother and the grandmother all wearing these designs, in their own way and how it fits with their lives (and it's a very privileged life). These aren't the kind of clothes that are discarded after a season. And, they still retain a freshness in their presentation, to me anyways. I think Nadege is very capable of more, but she knows who she's designing for. I think she's very focused, very real, very authentic and knows about restraint and I'm glad she's dispensed with the showmanship of a presentation-- the pieces will wow when they're in the stores and picked up and tried on-- by those fortunate to be able to afford them and make it all their own. Not boring at all.

If you go to any department store Cucinelli and Piana are almost always positioned next to each other, different? Well of course, but one woman does not dress in a single label. My point is that she's not shopping Celine or Givenchy. And if she wants to spend she will shop Hermes.

It's different from Lemaire's first outing but he changed the tune of his runway collections. And in stores it looked very much like this. That's not a negative criticism, I think this speaks to the fact that Nadege knows what she's doing.

I'm actually pretty surprised that the majority of opinions on this are negative. It's not like we don't all know that good minimalism takes skill. I've seen a lot of Hermès shows, and the saturated colors, beautiful shoes, and amazing materials here stand out to me. Yes, there have been some great designers who've come before here, but I don't find this anything to sneeze at--far from it. And if that's because I am officially a mature customer now myself, so be it! Minimalism isn't my thing, but I would certainly love to have some of these pieces.

Yes!!, my feelings exactly.

Honestly, if The Row had shown under this season's collection under the Hermés label I would have been thrilled.

There's a way to do practical and understated luxury for the high-end customer without being a total drag, like this is.

Loved this collection a lot! So simple and elegant, while also being modern and sophisticated. I'm sure many of these pieces could be timeless.

this is an absolute snoozefest. if it wasn't for the high quality craftsmanship this is another show from NY this season

Cathy Horyn's review:

Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski is the newest design chief. Her debut at Hermès seemed almost too tasteful. Everything was done with classy restraint, from the chaste blue-black leathers to the plain-Jane knit dresses to the ubiquitous turtlenecks (or a scarf wound tightly at the neck) — and that was the problem. Fashion is many things — hey, it’s a brasserie, a movie vehicle. It may even be a little boring. But one thing it is surely not is a church. Vanhee-Cybulski won’t lose perfection if she goes out on a limb. But she may lose her audience if all she cares about is looking perfect.
