I'm not really a fan of this trend, but the pictures that have been shown kinda turned me around i do see that in some situations it can look good. I just think overall its not that great haha
^I agree that in some situations it can look good, if done right.
However, it seems like every 2nd girl here in Tokyo wears the socks and heels look to death...I think it's more for a cutesy factor here than anything else.
it really depends on the sock/shoe combination. Some people pull it off quite well, but when the heel is already bright or patterned and the socks are too, that's a bit too much in my opinion.
I've been doing this look for about seven years now. I'll admit, I don't think I would have had the guts to start doing it unless I was a dj though, because I can get away with dressing in whatever and don't tend to be focussed on negatively. I love the look of schoolgirl frilled socks, or even better, a mary jane with a striped sock. I think it looks kooky and cute, and it's not exactly a rare look these days.
I still keep thinking of the cotton socks paired with sandals or shoes. Keep forgetting that we're talking wool socks. I don't wear wool socks unless dressing up for a formal occasion. You can still go with a cute pair of pumps to pair with some nice solid or patterned socks and look great. Here in cold weather time, I probably think you need some warmer socks to stay warm. Perhaps go with legwarmers.
this is a look i can relate too. not the prada version which has twisted what's good about it upside down and sideways. dries van noten does this really well because he doesnt make it too dainty, done right it has an artsy edge to it.
