An abundance of nylons and leggings in the fall 09 shows is great, but i think the best way to adapt that trend to this coming spring is to go with a sophisticated pairing of a sock and heel. If you are critical of the color and fabric choices of the sock, and pair it with the adequate chunkiness of a wedge or platform I think it's a hit. Check out DVF and Burberry- i think they've done it well. I do think it's easy to screw it up and nail more of a 'turning tricks' vibe, but if you choose a thin knit, get the correct amount of stack-appeal, and disregard others' criticism it'll be a hit. I'm testing it out with my Chloe horseshoe pumps this spring!

Hmmm, I thought I would like this but I think not so much. I think if I tried it it would take too much thought to make sure the whole outfit works. This doesn't look easy to pull off. I can definitely look too school girl or trampy/white trashy easily and I think it does in a lot of the photos.

The mini socklets at prada aren't bad though. I think it's also better with a lacy or more delicate sock if it's a full to-the-ankles length. I do have some lace anklets I'd try this with if I ever decide to. I guess bare legs or tights are more for me when it comes to heels.

Ohh.. I never thought of the mini socks before..looks like an ok idea although it looks kinda 'slippery'. I generally like socks with high heels.. except when the sock colour is bleach-white.

Burberry SS '08 shoes with socks were very cool IMO.

I love it too sandals or wedges with socks are so cool, I'd like to wear it but I'm afraid to look bad

I think this look is a disaster. A great high heel adds sex appeal to any outfit. Why ruin it with a pair of socks? Back in the 90's, people were wearing socks with Mary Jane heels during the "Clueless" era. I would like to think that style has evolved since then.

There are certain trends that need to dissappear and this look is definately one of them.

I like this look, only when the right socks are paired with the right shoes and the right clothes. My favourite is the Burberry SS09 look. Those socks don't look out-of-place at all!

No, I think it's just gross... I know you have to be out there with some things but I cannot PICTURE this done right!

I think when done right, sock and shoes can look adorable and chic. I tried it out on a wimpy scale recently. I hope to be more daring with it in the nicer weather soon and wear with skirts and dresses.... My attempt...

i love this look, whenever im wearing jeans with heels i always wear socks. i love experimenting with colour when wearing a sandal heel. i love to wear white or red socks with black sandals! depending on the colours of the outfit, of course. closet kisses, i love your "attempt" but i think personally i would roll the jeans down at the bottom as from a distance it might look like the jeans were tucked into the socks. hope you don't mind my comment.
i don't mind knee socks with heels but it is hard to not think of a schoolgirl.. ankle socks can look a bit dorky but occasionally i think they work quite well, sometimes they do look a bit try-hard though.

I like this trend! I can never find the type of socks that I like. I am so tall that snkle socks might look a bit foolish...my legs go forever. Who knows....I am going to try it! Be on the look out for pics! :-)

the only acceptable way is the Prorsum way. black, non descript, ankle high socks with black high heeled sandals.

if you go for a fetishy, retro pinup, you can also pair some frilly white socks with red pumps.
