I think shorter tops & higher jean rises, rather than longer tops and low-rise skinnies, is one of the best things that could happen to fashion right now!

yeah thats true in heavy snow skinnies can be useful , but come summer and spring , your flares will keep things cool , skinnies are like long johns they can keep you really warm but in summer esp BIG NO NO , esp black skinnies :ninja:.
Your boyfriend just like all bfs is just being super nice , lots of mine were like that lol . Go to the what not to wear Tracy London or any denim site , pear shapes have to be bottom balanced . YOu said your really tall so , that can change the whole equation. Well , its good to be different, variety is the spice of life. Thats why I shifted to other jeans types . I find this helpful, denim tutor on shopbop is pretty good .

My bf is very fashion oriented himself and he will always tell me the truth if my butt/legs look fat or not. lol. Seriously!

I know that bottom balanced works out for pear shape but skinnies really look the best on me at the moment. I pair them with either long baggy shirt of tuck it in (as in the pic) with my high rise ones.

I will of course give the very wide legged high rise jeans a try. Im pretty sure my parents have those in the attic still from the 70s...

If the high waist flared pants will look like this on me, then yuck them!!!!!!!!!!:

OK...the ones Kim are wearing are lowrise wide legs by DVF , they look silly they have 30inch leg , The ones on Kate Bosworth are nice , Rihanna looks nice in high waist jeans but that acid wash makes the jeans look bad.

here is kate moss in high waisted flares she looks awesome!

just with any jean you have to find the right fit, the ones on kim , looking nasty, in any she is trashy herself . THe photo is from denimology.com

mind you Rbil is only 5'1 or 5'2 ,she looks tall and sexy in the Ginger jeans

I like the those jeans songbird , they are high waist , narrow to the knee and then flare it look so sexy. What brand are those.

Im not sure what brand they are disco54, I have been trying to read the little bit on the side but cant manage to!!

I think the problem with Rihanna is that she is too muscular (her thighs) for that kind of pants. Or at least she should use a bit more loose jeans to be more flowy on the thigh area. Also it bugs me that her shoes are not showing. She ends up looking like some Shetland pony.

I like the ones in Paris Vogue. Who are they by? And as for the comment, on What Not To Wear, they explicitely state that flared jeans do not look good on pear shapes as it the slimmest part of the leg is at the knee, and it creates bulk above and below that. The best shape for a pear is a straight leg jean to give the illusion of longevity. Any jean can work on anyone if they find the right style.

^ There we go! You are so right. I have a feeling that I will end up looking like Rihanna...thats why if I would even consider trying on the high waist wide legs, they would have to be rather loose.

I am abit of a pearand I think flared or wide leg make me look huge. I prefer straight or skinny becasue then your top looks bigger and more proportioned.

if your a pear a high waist skinny will make you look worse , it accentuates your hips ,so your mid section looks fatter , with a wider leg it balances your hips and mid section , so your eye moves downwards , I had 2 friends who thought the exact same thing , because it seems counter intuitive at first. Im a pear shape , I have curves , and the wider leg works with curves . The acid wash jeans on Rihanna are ugly but the fitting is not bad at all IMO , in any case people always look at new fashion with disdain than adopt en masse , nobody thought skinny jeans would be popular in 2004 but well you see what happened , this look will filtrate its way more by the end of this decade , as its still a relatevily new trend. My older sister wore high waist skinnies in the late 70s, bought it in 1978 , they were called Drainpipes ,but not super tight like the ones now , the ones she had an 11 inch rise ,she wore them with dingo boots. She has a very boyish frame so she looked really good in them .
Pear shapes on high waist skinnies , you have to have a boyish frame , curvier pear shapes need a leg width of at least 18 inches to a max of 24-25 inches .
I have pretty much seen the whole fashion cycle from the photos of my sister and her advice , so from experience I can say though its best to have a variety , wearing the same jean is just boring but again you should wear looks which flatter you . If you still want that skinny look , I think high waisted straight leg jeans are a MUCH better option , not mom jeans , but like the ones marc jacobs does . I personally am in love with the high waist wide leg jean , I get a lot of compliments from people , btw I wear Ginger , Jbrand malik , and black grey ants which I find make me look so super sexy. Also you have to try a lot of jeans people , and wear a little heel when you try high waist jeans for the love of god lol . If your tall I HIGHLY reccomend grey ant they make really long inseams . I bought these in black a while back

she meant STRAIGHT WIDE LEG , watch stacy londons from what not to wear segment on OPRAH , see the jeans she paired on the mostly Pear shaped ladies .
Battling a belly bulge? Trying to hide your tummy? Stacy says a boot-cut jean can help to balance out a heavier mid-section. Women with a tummy typically have thinner limbs; the thicker your limbs, the worse a boot cut will look on you, she says. Look for a mid-rise, and make sure the jean hits across the belly, not above or below it. The width of trouser leg jeans can also help create a more balanced bodyline.

If you have thin ankles and you want to show them off, by all means, buy a tapered jean. But, keep in mind, tapered denim only accentuates the width of the hips. Plus, Stacy says, the tapered effect often leaves women looking like ice cream cones. Trust Stacy, go for the 31 flares—not flavors.
