i don't mind high waisted straights or skinnie's, but i just can't do the flare.
i look dumpy

I'm rather tempted by the Dittos sale on hautelook as well, and it's only about 30 minutes til it ends! Still, I tried on a pair of these (I guess in the classic style) and the inseam was 35/36 inches NOT 32" as it claims here. I'd hate to order them and discover the same problem. I hate inconsistencies in the online reporting of inseams. 33" and 34" are fine. After that, it's really OTT, especially considering how full the flare is as well. I'm a very thin girl with long legs, but the volume and length combined will swamp me, not flatter me. I still have yet to find the perfect pair of blue sailor jeans. Sigh.

i think i want to get a pair of high waisted skinnies, i don't know...
maybe the acne tubes in the lena wash for spring?

i'll let you know how long the inseam turns out to be..
when i checked out dittos at shopbop they reported the same 32" inseam so i'm thinking that should be right..

i think high waisted skinnies probably will only look good on those of you who are on the slimmer side..
i think they would look ridiculous on me because i think of myself as beeing bulkier (terrible word) on the bottom because i have muscular thighs/legs..
the high waist and wide leg look tends to be much more flattering on me i think because it emphasizes that i have a small waist..

anyway, i'll be sure to report back ;)

^ I sort of agree. I bought high-waisted skinnies after seeing the way Selma Blair wore them.. It just looked so modern and cool! But on me I just feel very self-conscious. I have a muscular lower half as well. So I'm sticking to the more 70s flare look.

to rock high waist skinnies , you have to have a model figure , with high waist wide legs (im not talking super flares but a decent 22 inch straight wide trouser leg) it allows girls who have heavy thighs , thicker calves , and slight pouches to get a way with and give them a long model look . H&M has these great high waist jeans (at rise 10 inch) and they are fantastic with some simple tees . http://www.hm.com/us/#/fashion9/

lost you first said you would NEVER do a high waist , now your wearing them hehe ....when you find the right pair of flares/wide legs you will buy them , there is a huge variety of them ,before only grey ant and jbrand were doing them now the whole denim industry has jumped on the high waist wide leg/flare bandwagon ,because its the only denim trend which hasnt been over done to death ..

my friend works in sales and she said that all the stores that bought flares off of 2 lines (1 that is always mentioned in this thread) and she said they are not retailing...not as well as their standard slim and skinnies. I wonder why.

^^^^Actually depends on location and right now its still cold , another thing high waist jeans are an emerging trend , its only this year high waist denim really started to become available to the masses and it is picking up , my boyfriend is a denim wholesaler in LA ,so he deals with all denim brands . Just like skinny jeans werent selling in 2003/2004 but exploded in 2006 . Surprisingly the most popular selling style to date are still low rise boot cuts /flares , im really over low rise but the love story jean literally flies off the racks in the stores it is sold .

The number one selling jean at nordstroms is the 7 for all mankind boot cut and at Barneys the ginger , both stores which deal with huge volume of denim ,so your friend is a bit confused , I think it depends store to store and location

well in NYC, the only flares people actually buy are Grey Ants, that I've seen.
Maybe because our weather is so crappy and wet and we get around by walking.
It just feels like excess on the legs.

The fashionistas which first to don the skinnies in 2004-2005 are now gravitating towards late 70s style high waisted drainpipe jeans (not those disgusting corset miss sixty jeans) like the one from siwy or high waisted flares and lots switch it up , because wearing one style is boring .

yeah cold wet weather isnt exactly good for flares but come the hot humid NYC summers and sort of indian summer fall weather new york has , people will be rocking them , esp in the summer omg, skinnies in NYC summer or summer is just a no no IMO . You should try out the H&M trouser jeans( look like Kates chloe jeans ) , its only 30 bucks , H&M this season is really good , which is rare mostly their stuff is full of the linen crap.

 true abt HM.
I do love my siwy kate high waists. It's all I've been wearing. Feels pretty good to be held in. I've lost 7 pounds since  Siwy was my first and now favorite jeans to wear of skinnies as you said. They just work for me the best, so that is why I trusted to try the 10.5" rise, but I think it only comes in black. The leg is not skinny but it feels good. It's just straight. WHich could be a problem in the hot hamptons this summer
They do make those really wide 28" legs but will prob try those with flat sandals I got at topshop last year, get them hemmed and call it a day.

28 inch flares OMG !!! For a pant ok but for a jean NO , hahahahah omg you are wearing high waists all the time !!! I feel somewhat vindicated because you seem dead set against high waists a year back hehe , and you lost weight . Seriously H&M has great jeans this year , no jokes , they have ad with thise girl wearing a white t with a red belt ,I bought the black tee and white tees (5.90 ) , jeans (29.90) and belt like in the ad (10.00) , its perfect for a nyc summer

i'm still against pancake bum cheap monday eiffel hightowers, girl you know those were crazy!
well the 28" flares aren't heavy, they feel light like linen.
my *** always looks flat in hm jeans and wider for some reason. maybe the pockets.. ill try though.

The one jean lately I have been hearing praises a lot about is the rich and skinny "LANKY" jean . Well the H&M jeans are actually good this time ...the trouser jean..and for 25 bucks it is a steal ,esp if someone like you who is sort of skeptical and doesnt want to dish out 100 plus bucks on higher waisted wide legs.
