If It Ain't Baroque F/W 09.10

It's been said but I like the thread title too. What a gorgeous trend. I love this period in art history. Unfortunately I can't see myself wearing any of the pieces in real life (finances aside). I wonder if and how this trend would trickle down to mass merchandise. I think it's one of those that is protected from being imitated because it takes so much skill to create. Maybe jewelry could be inspired by it, but I don't think retailers could imitate the clothing.

I have to say Danielle Scutt took it to levels of fancy dress.

Nina Ricci (kinda sorta...maybe it's the architectural quality of the dresses, and the richness of the colors and prints that reminds me a bit of Baroque.)

i agree. it'd be hard to find an affordable piece with so many details.

Comme des Garcons
(The shapes of some of these pieces remind me a bit of Watteau, and the pattern has a very 18th century wallpaper look.)

I love this trend so much! It's fresh to see a trend inspired by past centuries instead of recent past decades. D&G and Burberry are particulary beautiful!
Thanks for posting, dior_couture1245!

Fantastic trend, one of my favorites from this season, even though it was overshadowed by the 80's invasion.

Wow!!!! That first Pollini dress is amazing! I love it! A really awesome way to incorprate this trend! I think i'm in love!!
Thanks for introducing us Dior Couture :winkiss:

Although this isnt a particular baroque trend it shares the same aesthetics such as excessive ornamentation and/or texture which was the main trend in that period.
