Interview August 2014 : Mia Wasikowska by Craig McDean

I find her slightly over-hyped as an actress but she has a certain offbeat charm in print, although her previous editorial work has never really been for me.

Gorgeous, eye-catching cover though and very traditional but effective McDean signature cover story here. Quite satisfied with this.

Rooney is edging towards the mid-2010s Dream Team
Carey was part of the early-2010s Dream Team
Elizabeth isn't part of the Dream Team as she's a little too un-mainstream
Mia will never be part of the Dream Team as she is an overhyped flash in the pan. I mean Alice was a great movie and all but Mia is just like how Cassie is/was always in the Music Issues of fashion mags with her shaved side.

As for other articles, can't wait to see Rita's photoshoot. And Steve Coogan's photo(shoot) will probably surprise me too!
What is the "Dream Team"? Alice in Wonderland is a great movie?:blink: I'd say that is one of my least favourite films of hers.

And Elizabeth Olsen in unmainstream? Is that why she has a role in the next Avengers film and was just in Godzilla?

Also, Mia Wasikowska was offered the role Rooney Mara is playing in Carol.

In Treatment, Jane Eyre, Only Lovers Left Alice, Tracks, Restless, Stoker... All of these films (and one TV show) display her talent. Of course that's all subjective, but it seems a bit silly to dismiss her as an "overhyped flash in the pan." Auteurs love her.

I think Mia is on the cover because of David Cronenberg´s Map to the Stars which comes out in September...? I recently saw her in Only Lovers Left Alive, she´s very talented and charming on screen imo... I´m glad she got this cover which I really like, also the ed :)

Tbh I quite like Mia as she emotes period sensibilities quite well - my favourite genre. And she looks good here!

I think why she's photographed a lot is because she's like an amalgamation of the 'it-girls' of the 1990s to 2000s: The cool aloofness of Ryder, and then the composite looks of Danes/Dunst/Barton.

Gorgeous cover and spread, she is a Fashion Darling, but honestly she also has true talent. I will take Mia over Rooney Mara any day. There is a real presence she has in print.

Mia is gorgeous and a terrific talent. People seem really divided on her, here and elsewhere, but she has plenty of successful projects under her belt and has been wonderful in all of them. Alice sucked, imo, but was a massive box office smash and she was good in it. She is wonderful in The Kids are Alright, Stoker, Jane Eyre, In Treatment, Lawless, Tracks, and I haven't seen them but she's gotten praise for Map to the Stars, Only Lovers Left Alive, and The Double.

Beautiful photos and I'm excited to read her interview with Glenn Close!

Rianne van Rompaey, Waleska Gorczevski, Ewa Wladymiruk, Josephine van Delden, Kat Hessen and Ronja Furrer are also on that ed.

Mia is not a bad actress by any means but having seen several of her films, she comes across very one-note. Her demeanor from Alice to Jane Eyre to her character in Stoker is very similar. She's very good at petulant frowning.

Also since her red carpet looks leave a lot to be desired I'm always surprised to see her on any fashion magazine.

while i don't agree that her acting was the same in jane eyre and stoker, wait till you see her crazy performance in maps to the stars and maybe you'll change your mind !

Several members mentioned that they have an issue with the size of the Interview, and while i love it, i do understand the space problem. So why on earth isn't this magazine available in digital form?

Both editorials look really good, especially Lindergh's gritty take on 60s.

That Lindbergh story is nothing compared to the factory edit he did for bazaar in the 90's.
