Interview October 2014 : Jessica Chastain by Craig McDean

The issue just got released and there is only ONE other edit inside.

It features Daria S, Lily D, Edita V, and Anja R in various states of piss-drunk hangover silliness. Each one is dressed in designer threads but "wasted" and passed out in each photo. Edit shot by Fabien Baron.

It's like a typical Saturday night for me!

, cannot wait to see this edit!! Thanks Krogjock!

^Wow I can totally see this ed being received as controversial. There's something about it that I like. The models are giving it their all, those poses are outstanding! It feels very cinematic.

Stupid, lazy, pointless, insensitive story.

Baron and Templer are not edgy or avant garde for producing this, they are just thirsty.

Passed out in Dior??? This was not what I initially had in mind, its quite aggressive and leaves a very bitter aftertaste. In most of the shots (especially the 4th one) the girls look like they've been 'compromised'.

Wow I thought kroqjock was exaggerating! It looks like crime scene photos. I think they are trying here to be controversial. I expect more from Interview, editorials of a very high caliber without shock tactics. This is a really bitter ed considering certain news items where unconscious women are photographed passed out and degraded and assaulted.

that`s what Helmut Newton did, in a way, he even had an exhibition with so-called crime scene shots plus movie "Eyes of Laura Mars" inspired by Newton works in 1978 was about this. I`m not saying this is something new or pleasant, but i personally love the things which provoke repulsion, at least they aren`t looking corny or boring, it`s so tough to invent something new nowadays, especially in fashion, where everything is aldeady said and done.

"Pretty Wasted" is actually one of the most interesting editorials i've seen this year!
I'd much prefer interesting uses of models, cameras and sets to evoke atmosphere and mood, as this editorial does; than some boring studio shoot that we've been seeing over and over again..

The "Pretty wasted" editorial isn't bad but i think the dark and disturbing setting make it a bit uncomfortable to watch. Maybe it would look less controversial in an another location.

I love this editorial, it's powerful, and controversial is good.

colours are not that dark in the print, its just bad scans

I actually love Pretty Wasted, it's all about over induldgence, I didn't see this this edit as anything more than that. Looking forward to seeing the magazine in person since the photos are a bit dark here.

I just tried a test on brightening these scans with PS and it doesn't improve on anything. The surrounding environment gets darker and the skin tone becomes overblown like a Terry Richardson shoot. I'm guessing it's all in the paper quality (the pages are printed on super thin paper, after all).

That being said, I very much doubt the original pictures won't look as sunshine-y and happy after Interview releases them.

It's so hard for me to look at editorials that are "inspired" by crime scenes without thinking of the crime scene photographs America's Next Top Model had years ago.

I'd be disturbed by a "wasted" editorial appearing in a teen magazine, but in a publication with a noir-style cover story, it feels like another aspect of the theme. First we see the movie screen femme fatale; then, at the other end of the scale, a down-and-dirty reality, where all the glamour has gone.

I like that the set in Pretty Wasted is gritty and dirty and it gives great contrast to the high fashion outfits the models are wearing. Daddy´s little rich girls slumming...

Always trust Interview to nail something so visually provocative. Love it.
