Does anyone own this bouclé jacket? Does it itch a lot? I'm so tempted to buy it but I'm afraid I have to return it because it's un-linen! :(

a friend of mine owns it and she says that it's actually not that bad. where the fabric is raised and textured on the outside of the jacket, the inside is much flatter. she barely notices that it lacks lining...i'm guessing it also has a little to do with your tolerance threshold. me...i'm a wimp. lol.

The Levan boucle jacket is very nice looking but bear in mind it's boxy too, I think it's also larger than similar jackets she had in the previous collections. :]

I am not sure what size I am in IM tops as i only own 4 bottoms and one coat of hers. my chest is around 34.5 inches and i am about 5' 4.5" tall, can anyone advise me which size, 1 or 2, in the Cati pullover would be best? Also, is the one called black and beige actually look more like black and grey? TIA!

does anyone have a picture of the isabel marant round neck linen t shirts?

There you go, these are from this seasons and are called Radomi.

not shopping related but definitely isabel marant related... i don't intend to start a fight here.. rather just found this a curious thing to say and wanted to see how isabel's customers (ie. you) would reflect upon this..

“Big breasts and lips. No! I hate those girls. I hate famous women. My ideal woman is Serge Gainsbourg. Not that he was a woman.”
- isabel marant on the curvy model trend (nytimes.com)

Hoping there's a way to discuss this without stepping into weight discussion territory. mods please feel free to delete if not.

it suits me! hah and well her clothes are made for that kind of body. the fact that she doesn't have a fittings model and uses herself says it all really

I think the statement's a bit part misunderstanding and part idiot.

English is not her native language and was it really specifically her comment on the curvy model trend?

When she's referring to women with big breast and lips, the image popping in my mind is more Pamela Anderson than "regular" women with honest to God "big" breasts and lips...

Saying she hates famous women is so shallow and hypocritical as she owes them, at least partly, her recent success and exposure.

I dont think she probably meant it to come out how it has been taken... like it has been said before her handle on english is poor. she just will maybe learn the lesson as many people will react to this... that she should prob run comments like that by someone first...

forget what she has said anyway... its a free world and if she does think that well then good... its her clothes and she can make them for the type of women she wants...

I love the stuff!

Anyone know if you can still get her fur vests in the uk???

WSG x

I agree Aby, i saw more 'p*rn star' than curvy woman too.. ;)
as for what the comment was directly in relation to, i wish i knew.. i took it word for word from the NY times - but you never know how far from the original context these quotes have been carried. of course we have to allow for that...

I didn't post it as a criticism of Isabel... i love her clothes too (more so her older pieces than the last few seasons). i just found it sort of funny, actually.. that her ideal woman is Serge Gainsbourg. :p and wondered how her clientele would reflect upon it. i always think it's interesting to take into account the kind of woman that a designer sees her or himself as designing for.. and then to look at the women that are mostly buying the clothes and see how the 2 compare..

I think she has the right to design to whomever she chooses, if she wants her clients to be skinny with no boobs, she has the right to do and say so. I do not understand this idea that designers have to please all women and design for all shapes and sizes. If they want to exclude a portion of the population from buying their clothes is their prerogative.

Said that, i always find her statements extremely contradictory, i do not Know if it's bad translations, if things come out wrong way in english and have another meaning in french but the truth is what she does and what she says no not tally. She says she she designs for brunettes and 80% of the models she chooses for her shows are blondes, she does not design for boobs but she never had any problems using busty models like Lara and Isabeli, and even Abbey when she was not as popular as she is now, and also had a considerable chest. She hates famous women and gives her inspiration as the ultimate IT girl Alexa Chung. And last in a total contradiction of the famous women motto, she uses Kate Moss her the face of the brand exactly at a time when the brand is being accused of pandering to LA IT girl's tastes. Why use Kate Moss, the model celebrity by excellence in a brand were the core clientele would happily dispense with famous women in the ads, where the core clientele actually agrees that "famous women" wearing her clothes actually cheapens the brand?

but there's a difference between celebs who just get people to style them and are not interested and people who have their own style and are interested aka kate and alexa :D

No i do not see any difference, they are both famous women, and in Alexa case she is simply an IT girl, her association with Kate Moss or Alexa can only bring her even more success and she's profiting from it. So there is reason for her being so vehemently against fame.

OH my. Anyway, back to shopping! I got this lovely dress and everyone keep asking me if it's from Missoni

i'm right there with you. i feel like the ny store knows me by name at this point. i've been calling...no, i've been stalking them daily to check for new shipments!

Hmm, I've just bought one of the linen tee's from the Outnet, will have to see what it's like. It's all obviously very old but I'm hoping those linen tee's never change. Also got the new AW denim jacket, have been searching for the perfect denim jacket for ages (I hated the summer one with the studs). Feel a bit funny about buying something so thin and that I'd really wear more in the summer at the begining of Autumn but I'll always regret it if I don't. Anybody know what next SS11's denim jacket will be like. All the buying will be done by now.

Here they are, my latest Isabel Marant purchases: the linen dress, the dotted silk skirt and the blue print skirt with tie in belt. I'm in love with the dress.

pics by me ^_^
