J. Crew

I love, love J. Crew.. especially after visiting their website today and actually browsing through everything for the first time in about two years.

But, over the years I have seen many items on which that I couldn't justify spending the money. J. Crew had a beautiful floral shirt last year, but they were charging $168 - I just couldn't put the money down.

I do love their flip flops, and some of their halter tops and tunics are simply gorgeous.

I do have to say that the styling (and visual merchandising) is amazing. For example, lately when I've walked past the J. Crew at the Grove I almost drool because everything looks so wonderful in the displays.

I've also always loved their basic tops. In high school I had this wonderful pea green deep v cami with built in bra, that had criss-cross straps in the back. I also had a beautiful light peach colored top that had the criss-cross straps. I still have the latter... I wear it as a lounge top nowadays.

Here are a few of my favorite casual looks currently in stores, all from jcrew.com:

And Meg - that watercolor tunic you posted is gorgeous.

i stopped in this weekend and was really impressed with the merchandise. quite a bit is still too preppy for my tastes but the slubby t's are always great. i tried on a pair of soft grey drawstring wide leg trousers that the saleperson said based on my aesthetic (i was dressed fairly funky that day, marni'd out) those would be too conservative for me but when i came out of the dressing room with them rolled up, slouched and the drawstring tied off center they made total sense for me. i've worn them twice so far and see them as a staple for work. jcrew taken as is, is mostly boring, but funked up a bit if offers solid basics to build on.

I'm a fan of J Crew too, especially for finding summer dresses, but as I am located nowhere near the US I can only buy it on eBay. At the same time, I guess that's part of what makes it slightly special.

They have some beautiful, staple swimsuits, too...

And their dresses are definitely gorgeous. They can put a bit of a strain on the wallet, so I often check their clearance racks.

And lately, their cardigans have been superb!

I have nothing but good things to say about this past season's lineup.

J.crew has been a real discovery for me...i was traveling in the US this past december and when i saw their window display i was like "What IS this???" It's like they read my mind and combined my love for preppy basics with beautiful colors and funky shapes (floral corsages, short-shorts...) I've been kinda all over the place for years with my style, but finally i found a brand i liked for the stuff, NOT the label...
I agree it sucks they don't ship to europe etc., but i got tons of stuff back from my trip, and i use ebay and the likes...always money well spent!

I have been loving J crew so much lately. I remember loving it in hs and then it went downhill and in the past few years it's just been fabulous. I recently purchased these items.

^ That cardigan is fantastic.

.. combined my love for preppy basics with beautiful colors

The colors really are great... just the kind of colors I enjoy... a sort of bright olive greens, very light peaches, light blues..

i know i love the colors too. The cardigan is absolutely perfect, you are right. I love it.

^ That dress! The plunge is amazing, and surprisgly appropriate...

^ Bump!

I know there's a SS thread on J. Crew, BUT, this thread needs to come alive again! Has anybody bought any J. Crew items lately?

I just recently "discovered" J. Crew. Knew the brand, but always labeled it as 'mom wear'. Oh man was I wrong!

I found the most perfect cigarette pants there and their cashmere is wonderful. I didn't buy anything in store, because I just couldn't decide. And even though I put myself on a shopping ban, there are some items that I would really love to pick up.

And from reading this thread I can now save 15% if they still honor the student discount that is.

Meg do you remember if they included duty in the final price or did you have to pay when it arrived?

Some of the items I'm currently lusting after...

Sold out, but I'm hoping they'll restock.

I'm envisioning these to be almost a nude/peach shade.

These haven't been getting great reviews, but I personally love them.
I think they work better on slender frames.

^ Beautiful, Party Vixen. And that bracelet... definitely one of the many pieces of jewelry I am really lusting over this season.

J. Crew has really improved over the years... a while ago it would have been fair to label J. Crew as "mom wear."

Oh my, I had no idea! :woot: Love the orange with white. But will people purchase this luggage at nearly $2k a piece?

That luggage is gorgeous. But those prices are insane!

I find J Crew's prices really reasonable but some of the other brands they carry are way out of my price range.

Party Vixen - yes, they include provincial taxes and duty in the final price you pay online. They do some interesting luggage collabs - the stuff with globetrotter is gorgeous. There are lots of things I want right now but I probably won't get anything until my mum heads to Florida so I don't have to pay Cdn duty and taxes. The delphina dress (I think that's the name) that is full length and the oat color with the pink painter's stripe running down the middle is so gorg

I was in the store yesterday, oooh-ing and aw-ing by myself... I really feel like I'm at my style home when I'm in there. ;) The fiance waited outside patiently... I of course didn't buy anything (had they had an additional percentage off clearance, it would have been a different story), but definitely added MORE to my virtual wish list. I saw a long, peach-colored dress for $98... not too bad, really... so pretty. :flower:

And the jewelry. Don't even get me started! I really wish I could find a special piece to wear with my wedding dress, but most of it is just a bit too over-the-top or larger than what I'm looking for... there was an antique-gold necklace with huge pink stones that look fantastic... would be perfect if it was 2x smaller, I'd say.
