Jean-Paul Gaultier F/W 1992.93 Paris

Thanks for posting this, Maayan. My God...how long were his shows back then?

^^^The unedited, complete “Rabbi Chic” and “Tattoo You” shows were around an hour and a half. There were just too many looks, but I’d imagine being at the shows-- of which would be well over 2 hours, was an intimate soiree in itself in how transported to a time and place that was so distinctively Gaultier’s vision. Must have been so intensely immersive transformative for everyone fortunate enough to be there.

^I also recall reading that the Lacroix HC and Yohji shows were equally as long. I have no reason to doubt this.

Also, remember this? (Law Roach better not even think about putting anybody in this outfit.)

^^^ Ha! The children would be in shock at the sight of bare breasts… Eva looked so much better in the dress, frankly. The Scandinavian folkloric design of the shawl that covered her before the reveal, along with Heidi styling looked so much more striking, so much more charming than the oversized blazer Madonna was styled with.

Getting a glimpse of the preshow happenings— both BTS and on the floor, the atmosphere was such an event; People interacting rather than staring into their phones— and no personal videoing the show. People were completely mesmerized by the imagery walking by them. And you don’t see people rushing off at the finale. I can appreciate that us nobodies can see every show live nowadays. But shows are so bland and basic that they’re a chore rather than a privilege to witness. And Gaultier's back in the day was such a vision to witness. Would love for @Maayan to share any experiences being at these shows...
