John Galliano - Designer

^ Watching that video warmed my heart. When John says that the gown is made out of an old coat and you see the sleeves, literally sends chills down your spine.

When I saw this dress on dailymail I immediately assumed it was by John and of course bias cut. Thanks for the confirmation christian zh. Love the vibrant gold colour.

In this dress, she gives new meanings to the term "trophy wife".

That dress is so beautiful but what's Margiela about it? It looks like a typical dress designed by Galliano.

Good dress but i'm not seeing Margiela in any of that. Margiela did bias but and we all know that it is a Galliano code but why not taking it to the next level?

I think my biggest disappointment about Galliano at Margiela is the fact that he is playing safe. This dress, like everything he is doing is quite conventional.

I think Amal looks amazing in the dress, and while it isn't really Margiella, we can't expect him to dress her in anything experimental.

I agree with this. The dress is stunning and looks amazing on her and maybe the code of Margiela is in some details we cannot see. I would not expect Amal to wear anything extreme. It's not who she is it seems. No problem with that.

OMG! The return of Galliano ad his bias cut!

Ill admit I like Amal wearing so much MM!

To be honest, I was pretty excited about John's comeback but now I can't feel the joy of everyone each time a new creation by him comes out. Yes, I know Amal, Anna Wintour and other celebrities will never wear deconstructed and experimental pieces, but I still can't see nor feel Margiela's spirit. Maybe the house was having financial troubles and that's why They brought such character as Galliano ? I don't know; and while I'm not ready to ask his head, I'd rather see him at a house that shares a common vison with him (Schiaparelli would have been perfect). I really hope to see John evolve his vison for the house because I frankly think that this will become (or already is) a Dior 2.0.

Oh no, it won't become a Dior 2.0 because John has a great vision of Margiela. We may not see that vision on the red carpet, but his runway pieces are really interesting and modern in a way. John seems to be excited about MM, its archives and codes and it looks like he won't stuck in a rut like at Dior with the Bar jackets because he has more freedom. And he's got a great team, I think he's been working with Meadham Kirchhoff and many other inspiring and talented people.
Dior is a fail and Maison Margiela is interesting at least. We should get used to this situation, because Martin is no longer there and he won't be back.

Such a beautiful dress, im not getting the Margiela vibe, but im in love with it. But, that flower... Why?! That detail almost ruins it for me.

Funny... You should apply your own advice. Claim that Dior is a fail beacuse of a new desing direction, is a contradiction of your last sentence. Unless your are talking about money, wich is not even the case!

Disagree. Dior is a fail not because of current non-JG'ness. That's your assumption of what was written.

^^Dior is a fail because Raf doesn't know how to work with its archives and codes in any way. His last collection was closer to Louis Vuitton so something's really wrong. I liked his vision of Sander and his first Dior collection, it was more organic and it wasn't as soulless as his "changed Dior". That new Dior is not a new design direction , it's more like a lack of any direction and this is basically my problem. His collections are getting more ugly, unauthentic and disconnected to the maison. How can I get used to that when it's too bad to get used to?

There's a big difference between Raf and John, and I'm not talking about their aesthetics. Galliano is excited, almost ecstatic when he's talking about MM. He's got tons of passion and it seems like he loves his work. Raf is like a cold fish without any interest in history of the house, his interviews are as boring as his fashion.

And no, I wouldn't want to see John at Dior again. He had his time, he did amazing things but it's all gone. It's time to move on and find someone new.

I think I remember Galliano saying something about not having much freedom at Dior in the interview posted on the previous page. He said something about feeling forced to reinvent the bar jacket all the time. I guess he wouldn't have gone to MM if he felt he would be as restricted there.
