John Galliano - Designer

I felt rather taken aback by his first Artisinal Men's collection (Spring 2019). And it was before the set ups really started to get too over whelming and the imposed austerity really allowed the garments/looks shine. Plus the model walks weren't too much. Especially love this look:

The following Haute Couture show I enjoy still to this day too. Not so much because of the garments themselves, but the silhouettes were rather sublime. If only they didn't do the platform tabi, purely to allow the models to walk a little more confidently in what were some rather compromising looks/styling.

And a double post here (sorry ya'll) but I don't know if I really want to see more Galliano doing another brand. Or maybe if he were, a JPG collaborative collection would be great mainly for the sake of fun it may bring. Emphasis on may bring though.

But besides that, I dunno... I don't want to be nostalgic for a bygone era in fashion and nor do I want it to come back, but at the same time fashion is rather bleak. The maudlin feel of his last collection with no follow up - which was a shame really, a RTW counterpart would have lifted parts of it for the better - left me feeling rather empty. Great techniques, but it felt too precious.

I kind of agree, it would be legacy Overkill. Also success really is measured in numbers when it comes to fashion. And he was not successful enough in his own Brand he made some bad mistakes when it came to contracts. But time will tell
