That's weird...so you have it on different time than most of the world? Silly me.

He's just artsy fartsy and has no regard for beauty at all.

He's part of a realist parade - people who think that everyone needs to wear no make-up or anything to distort "their true selves". It's just that most people don't have true selves that are worth looking at, and, most of all, the true self becomes boring. With make-up you can essentially twist the way you look in an infinite number of ways. That's kinda fun. The very idea of criticising the use of make-up and retouching because it can "make women feel bad about themselves" is totally hilarious. Many women ALWAYS feel bad about themselves and compare themselves to others, no matter what they do - I'm sure they find ways to do that even if they're burka-clad!

Of course, he does have a point about boring perfectionism, that's for sure. But make-up and styling can obviously be used either to perfect oneself according to a standard or to create something out of a whim for the fun of it.

I think true beauty is with no make up on. And Kate in the picture looks much more beautiful than pictures where she's groomed to the nines.

And that does not match to Kate?

Elegance is innate - and obviously Kate has that innate quality in spades. Some people can never be elegant, no matter how many of Audrey Hepburn's original outfits they own, others look elegant when they're sipping some coffee with stringy hair. It's life - unfair

I don't think it matters - some people are beautiful with make-up, others without it and some are beautiful/ugly no matter what they do.

That pic is beautiful. It is one variation of beauty - the drained out casual one. You can alter someone's face a great deal by changing the light and stuff like that, and Teller apparently doesn't mind that. It's interesting because if there was no manipulation of any kind of the photos, or of the people, if there was no artristry, he would be superfluous himself as a photographer. Certainly as a highly paid photographer who is paid big bucks to improve reality.

When giving his answer, the way Teller says "And cocaine?" leads me to believe the question he was asked was something like So what do you think about the Kate Moss scandal?

I don't think he's dissing Kate. I think he's trying to put into words that he can't understand why Kate became Kate. I mean, can any of us? He's not questioning her icon status, I think he's curious. I think he's saying she looks awful in the recent big campaigns because he wants to portray Kate as what she is now, not what she was.

On the other hand if I'm completely wrong and he is dissing Kate, he can go eff himself.

What a sorry attempt at recreating Brokeback's fame. I am not an Ang Lee fan. I may be the only person on earth who found Brokeback to be extremely boring with it's never-ending spineless scenes, but I stick by it and I add that I don't plan on seeing a film of his again.

I think that he is trivializing her beauty, and beauty in its own right. She's beautiful, photogenic and extremely elegant - and she knows how to dress herself to reach perfection. She's a rare beauty, and one of the few who really deserves the status she has. I can ask this question about so many people, but Kate seems like one of the few recent beauty icons I can understand.

If you want to interpret it kindly, towards him, I guess that you can think that they've cut the interview together in a weird way. Further, given all the semi-ugly "beauty icons" out there, I'm thinking he's probably very critical of them as well. Also, perhaps, he's saying that he should get to shoot her to make her look her best ^_^

he should just shut up, really. his own work isn't that terrific either.....

I agree. He is my least favorite photographer. His style is boring. His YSL and Marc ads are overexposed garbage.

Sorry guys everyone seems to love his pictures of Kate, but I think they are ugly. There were other photographer before, who made a photo of Kate without makeup and she looked realistic and wonderful... and not like a crack wh*re.

I don't understand photographer, who say that "ugly" and the "inner self" belong in the same category. You don't have to make a model ugly, so that you can see her inner beauty. That is bullsh*t!! Sorry.

It is the same excuse, that the p*rn*gr*ph*c man Terry Richardson uses when he photographes these young naked girls in his flat... sigh

That's very true what you said about Brokeback Mountain. Still, Ang Lee has done some great films, such as the Ice Storm and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (which was at the same time boring as hell).

Hmm....that photo shows someone who is unstyled and laid back. I dunno, I know plenty of people who're like that who are definitely not crack whores.:innocent:

So you know a lot of people, who wear her hair unwashed and dirty like that?? :innocent: That is nice for you.

I wouldn't call her look laid back in that photo, her eyes are really druggie and confused.

This is exactly the impression I got from reading his comments... that he is wondering how and why she became this huge thing...

Because let's be honest... I like Kate very much, but she's far from the most beautiful woman on earth... there are many others who are much more beautiful and equally stylish but will never become the huge wave that Kate is now...

In my opinion, she is a Vogue darling (internationally) and this is where all this began from... when Vogue presents you and uses you in a priviledged way than it uses all other models then yes you become an icon...

Plus, I'm always impressed by the excellent job that her PR people and representatives do in promoting and publicising her image... the recent scandal is a great example...
