As stated before hecklers are rude, annoying people that not only bother the performer but the people that are actually there to have a good time. I agree that what he did and said was wrong but they should not have been at a comedy show if their whole reason was to heckle someone. If they didn't like the show they could have got up and left. Like I said, in no way do I agree with what he did but in no way do I agree with what the hecklers did either.

Wow, so you're not kidding? You actually think heckling merits racial epithets? Glad I don't live in your world.

Oh boy....I can see this thread being locked real soon....

I just saw the tape one of you guys had And Iam appauld. One because people in the audience had the audacity to laugh while he was yelling these obsenties. Two, someone said that one of the guys called him a "cr****r"
(please excuse my language, don't mean to offend anyone) But if you watch the video, he said this after he was called a ****** several times. now Iam in no way saying what the black guy said was by any means "okay" and iam sure its hurtful to caucasins(sp?) but there is no way in hell that "cr****r" means the same to caucasins as what ****** means to us. People brush it off as to say- well he was being heckled and all this other bulls**t, do people realize that that was the word said to us before we were hung from a f**king tree! Or being wipped till they bleed being called that same word? Yes I know some of these kids now have turned it into a term of friendship, and maybe that helps some deal with the word, I don't know, but both of them, kramer and the black guy should be ashamed. And unless you are black you will never fully understand the pain in that word. Then he goes on david letterman with his fake a** apology, only because it was some back lash. And whats crazy is that even david letterman had to ask that if the hecklers happen to be white, would he have reacted the same, so I guess here would have called them a bunch of Cr****rs, please, he knew exactly what he was doing, this is bulls**t, when will it end?

Colour me moronic... but what is 'cr****rs'? All I could come up with was 'Critters' and other than being a series of offending movies about homicidal fuzzballs, it really didn't fit the bill.

What a pig. This upsets me on more than one level as I am a huge Seinfeld fan!

Cracker. From Word Detective.

Dear Word Detective: Can you tell me the origin of the word "cracker"? Someone told me that it dated back to the slave days, when slave owners were called "crackers" because they cracked a whip on slaves. Is this true? -- Cygerr, via the internet.
Probably not, although that is one oft-heard theory among many. But before we proceed any further, we'd better back up a bit and explain (especially for our overseas readers) that "cracker" is a derogatory slang term usually used to mean a poor white person resident in the Southern U.S., especially in the state of Georgia, which is sometimes referred to as "the Cracker State." More than simply a regional slur, "cracker" carries the implication that the person is a racist, and is sometimes applied to any white person perceived as harboring racist sentiments, regardless of class or geographic particulars.
There are theories tracing "cracker" to the crack of a slavemaster's whip, or to "corncracker" (slang for country folk, who presumably ate a lot of corn). But the actual source is almost certainly the much older slang sense of "to crack" meaning "to boast or brag," first seen around 1460, and its derivative "cracker," meaning "braggart," which appeared around 1509. The earliest use of "cracker" used in the "poor white" sense discovered so far bears out the connection. In a letter written to the Earl of Dartmouth in 1766, an observer named Gavin Cochrane, referring to bands of outlaws operating at that time in the Southern U.S., noted: "I should explain to your Lordship what is meant by crackers; a name they have got from being great boasters; they are a lawless set of rascalls on the frontiers of Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas and Georgia, who often change their places of abode."
Evidently these outlaws were so successful that their exploits, along with their bragging habits, became legendary throughout the eastern United States. By the early 19th century, "cracker" had become a term applied to poor Southern whites in general.

I do understand where you're coming from. People with common sense would
tell themselves that "this show sucks lets leave" but in reality there are
more rude people than there are people with common sense.

It's unfortunate that Michael Richards lost his cool and went balistic. I feel
for the guy. I feel sorry for him because he doesn't know how to control
his environment and I feel sorry for him for being ignorant.

There is nothing to feel sorry for and i can't believe people are actually trying to justify his repulgrant behaviour. Funny how the Mel gibson outrage was quasi unanimous. oh well, i guess some human beings are more equal then others:rolleyes:

Hecklers are a part of stand up comedy...
always have been and always will be.
I am not saying I don't think it's rude but if a comic can't handle it they may not be in the right job.

I have also heard the people weren't exactly heckling him....
just being loud and maybe a bit obnoxious ( by the place has a bar, I am sure it's run of the mill there)
I haven't watched the clip....
but does it include what they said to piss him off so bad?
I did watch the apology clip and thought he seemed a bit crazy!

the words crack** and the word ****** are equivalent only in theory.

the N word is charged with so many bad meanings from history that it is absolutely much more harmful to the "N" than to the "C" to be called that word.

that is just the reality of it.

i don't care what MR says, he is so racist!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm suprised seinfeld was willing to help him out with that apology spot on david letterman. i would run the other direction because it was so heinous.

I wrote cr***er because I didn't want to type the word, and because Iam black, I thought about others and not just myself, and being what the topic of this thread is and that the word was used already here, I think you know what word I was saying, even if you just read my reply.

exactly!, And him being angry and wanting to address the hecklers is fine because they were interupting his show, but for him or anyone else to just say he was angry and didn't mean what he said is complete bulls**t, If someone hurt your child or any loved one for that matter, and to be that angry is understandable (not to say calling any one a racial term is accepted, white or black) but to be that angry as to what to hurt someone if someone hurts you or your family, but some jokers in a comedy audience? That was in his heart and he meant every word and it bursted out because thats how he felt. he is absolutly a racist

That apology was so ridiculous and so pathetic that it made me feel embarrassed for him. It seemed that he was apologizing out of duty rather than out of actual regret. He was even struggling for words to say in the apology. It was all just so...ludicrous. It only served to make him look more unstable than before.

That is so very true.....yeah I never believed his apology. It's called damage control. He is only trying to save what's left of his pathetic image. Whatever.

Thanks to all the people commenting in this thread who do understand the pain of that word. KARMA KARMA KARMA! :winkiss:

Yes! If no one ever made this situation a big deal, he would have never said anything, he "apologized" days after the incident! If he was so sorry he would have immediately apologized or never said it at all

i think its absolutely disgusting. That is no way to go about dealing with people who are essentially there to see you perform, regardless of what theyre doing to provoke you. he acted so unprofessionally its just unforgivable.

There's really nothing I can add to this thread because most of what I think has been said already.

Truly disapointing and disgusting. Those aren't things you say out of anger. If that's the first thing you revert to when someone makes you mad, than you obviously have some issues.
