gaga bores me to death now. she used to be the most exciting and most intriguing artist of our times and now she's gone all country or whatever, doesn't wear anything that's extravagant and plays the guitar and does nothing else performance-wise. i used to stay up all night for her live performances, new videos and whatnot but now i didn't even buy her new record! so sad.

I know what you mean and I feel the same way generally. But I also believe that she had to have, I guess, a pared back era especially after the Artpop debacle. Also with other artists, like Beyonce and Rihanna, who have stepped up their game with their brand to a Gaga-related level, she would seem boring now compared to them. I personally believe that she will probably never gain the success that she once had during her Fame Monster days, and I believe that she's ok and accepting of that; hence, why she's generally doing more personal records and what she would rather release herself instead of following a more marketable approach.

thank you! i still love gaga as a person and she is incredibly talented but as a performer she has become quite lacklustre. but as she says in her harper's bazaar essay, she doesn't need fame anymore so maybe that's why she doesn't care about the extravaganza anymore. i still don't understand what went wrong with artpop but i hope she's at a good place right now, personally. and hopefully she will bring back the EDM someday and her great costumes

you think her style is not extravaganza? I would not call her perfect illusion video demure either... Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike it but it is like saying about an apple that it's a pear...

well, a white pantsuit just isn't the same as the alexander mcqueen look from the VMAs in 2010. and the perfect illusion video is nothing like the videos for telephone, paparazzi, judas or of course bad romance (but that cannot be topped).
like i said, i still love gaga but i'm not as invested in her anymore as much as i used to be (i.e. waiting for her in front of her hotel).

Yeah I still love Gaga as an artist and she was the first musician that truly resonated with me on a personal level when I was 19 when she first came out. Before that, I never cared for any of the singers especially American ones. So it does still kinda hurt a little knowing that I don't have the same amount of passion for her as I did many years ago. But I think it goes to show that we are all human with changing tastes and needs and we all grow up one day. I'll always be a fan of her immense talent and creativity but nowhere near the fervor of the early 2010s.

If you guys have noticed that Gaga was the one that created a new change in pop music for musicians to actually take a stand and be more creative. And I think with Gaga fading from the spotlight a bit a couple years ago was what caused a lot of singers today to start the athleisure trend that's going on in response to the extravaganza that Gaga was always at the forefront of. Gaga's short but extremely meteoric rise as a superstar will always be iconic in music history in my eyes.
