I think she's enjoying the resources and availability she has with fashion right now. She has enough time (if she's still well known) later on down the line in her life, to be refined with her style or whatever people wish her to be.

I wish I could define her style but she's all over the place. She's gorgeous but that doesn't mean everything works for her. There's a way to make her different from Blair without making her style look forced and in a way unorganized.

I don't what she wears truly shows the gorgeous woman she is.

I loved her at the Emmy's, that dress is absolutely gorgeous and her hair and make-up was perfect!

i think that she's finding her peronal style - you can see that in her candids, where she's kind of sleek, abit edgy, but also playfully girly. I see real growth and development there.

but as for her red carpet style - i agree, she (well her stylist) seem to be all over the map, trying out various things that don't always work, or she isn't able to pull off. Ie. the Christopher Kane, or the Bottega Veneta.

Maybe try hard is not the best term to have used... I mean its not like she's a Kim Kardashian or anything...

But I do think her people/stylist are so keen on separating her looks from that of her character on GG that they have missed the boat a few times lately... that weird Christopher Kane dress, her jumpsuits for Letterman, VMA... its great when the experimenting yields good results like the LV look for the TCA but not for the emmys...

She needs to dress for her body type.

But just as a lot of people didn't like them, a lot loved the jumpsuits and gown...
Cate Blanchet recently wore a quilt so it's not a get it right now or never sort of deal.

I also don't think the issue is Leighton consciously trying to separate herself from Blair, but that the people judging her can't seem to.

Personally, I don't see the point of experimenting, if you already know beforehand that it's going to end well. I'm sure Leighton and her stylists thought the Bottega dress etc. look was nice, but a lot of people didn't like it, myself included.

I also disagree about dressing for your body type. As a short person, I would hate it if certain styles were only limited to tall and slender people. I still maintain that the Bottega dress would have looked heaps better, if they had just fitted it better. Besides the silly knots, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the dress aside from a case of bad fitting.

Well, I think if the writing and positioning don't say it, that's further proof that they downplay the other girls' looks to try to make Blake the front and center.

I agree. That dress and style doesn't look like it's made particularly more slender/tall build than Leighton at all, just that it would be perfect if the bodice clung onto her lovely figure more.

Most of us here PREFER Leighton's style to Blair's and this being Leighton's style thread rather than the Gossip Girl thread, we usually stick to just that - Leighton.

I think its perfectly reasonable to agree to disagree, some of us like the jumpsuit, some of us don't, some think she can pull off certain things, others disagree. Its all part of discussion. We don't all have to like Leighton's style all the time.

That dress is amazing...she looks so good. She wears it so naturally, looks so confident. That's one of the things that sticks out about her...she wears everything with confidence. Even the crazy things like the LV outfit at the Met Gala.
