I think it's the first time I've seen someone style a Chanel jacket so ugly.

But I like Leighton's own casual style. It's simple with a slight edge. Nothing revolutionary but suits her and she looks good. Why can't she go back to that in her red carpet outfits too?

I actually like the styling, it goes back to season 1 of GG with a lot of details and accessories (the tights, the headband, the shorts...). I thought everyone wanted them to go back to their season 1 roots? Blair wore some crazy and over-accessorized things back then.

Perhaps. But the key difference - it looked good! E.g her huge red bow headband looked fabulous with her Phillip Adec jacket and Zara shirt. When I watch GG from s2 I feel the exact same way as when I watch the Shopaholic movie vs the books - was is up with all the high-end brands? S1 was iconic because of the way Eric incorporated few high end (but still attainable for some) with a lot of different high street. And it looked fabulous. Now they just put on a Chanel dress and call it a day. Sometimes, they are lucky e.g the Moschino dress, other times meh. And the girls had very distinct styles. Now it's very blurred. I also personally think, there is something wrong when you start seeing MJ on a character like Vanessa!

^^I understand what you're saying, it's a completely legit and understandable way of looking at things. I guess I'm just not delving that deep into it (I agree about Vanessa though!!).

Anyway, I think that some of these stylings will look much better on screen and official photos than on candids.

^I dunno. There were some spectacularly bad Blair outfits last season and they only looked worse on screen. Although Serena looked sl*tty 90% of the time, at least she was dressed in a way that accentuated her "assets". Blair was dressed in some truly horrific grandma outfits!

I agree, I disliked many of the season 3 Blair outfits (the auction dress+that hairstyle in episode 3; Proenza Schouler coat+Oscar de la Renta blouse+Elie Tahari skirt+that atrocious hat in episode 16). But I'm giving them a clean slate for season 4 and hoping for better things. I like it so far - both Blair's and Serena's Paris stylings look so much better than season 3 ones. Love the Moschino dress (and how it was styled), love the Marc Jacobs pink dress, that Sariah peach dress+Chanel bag combo was admittedly a bit bland, love the Chanel jacket+shorts+headband combo, the purple dress is crazy and out there, but it's Paris the couture mecca (and only a promo shoot).

I think the Chanel jacket+shorts+tights+headband styling is the closest one to season 1 Blair, that's why I like it. I don't really care if they use big designer names or lower priced pieces, the styling can look good or bad either way. I mean, they still put Blair in a lot of Milly or Nanette Lepore or Marc by Marc Jacobs pieces, it's not always couture. I just hope they can bring a bit of that season 1 excitement back, doing more risky stuff when it comes to Blair.
